On a sidenote, it has to be a serious shock to a family to put a child into private school and start paying tuition when you've been in public school for so long. Then multiply that by 3 and you see what the Moeves family is dealing with. For us that started in grade 1 it wasn't quite the shock it will be for them.

 

No education bill suddenly to $15K? Yikes. Hang in there, Dave.

I know countless assistance cases where they just don't pay the other half and they continue to play sports for the high school. Yes, they can't be awarded more than 50% through the program but that doesn't mean they will ever be expected to pay the other half. Many an athlete has been exempt. I have parents who brag about how "johnny " goes to a private school and plays sports and they just can't pay the other half while they drive away in their new car.

I wish I knew what private schools you are referring to. I have never heard of it happening at the schools I am familiar with.

From a strictly basketball view, these kids can help 're-build' the program at WV. At CovCath or NCC they would be additonal depth on some solid teams and their chances of winning titles improves. The decision may come down to being 'the man' at WV and struggling to get wins or taking less minutes and be a lesser part of better teams.

It is my understanding from a very good source that Campbell's attempt to enroll at Taft was short lived due to eligibility issues. The primary reason he left HCC was due to non payment of tuition allegedly. So the word is Campbell was back on HCC's doorstep this week with a check for a very very small portion of tuition asking if he could come back. If he is allowed back in the school how is that fair to the kids who's familys have to work their tails off to cover tuition so they can get a private education. This ain't layaway for Division 1 athletes is it?

We will NEVER get an answer from those who make accusations as fact but hide behind anonimity. Anyone remotely familiar with how the system works know this doesn't happen. The challange has been put forth. Name names or quite making unfounded accusations.

The word I got this morning is...................... there was an issue regarding back tuition and Tony's mom asked to be put on a payment plan. Was told Tony was called into the principals office as well, however they (office Admin.), made one too many phone calls inquiring about payment and Mom said, "SEE YOU LATER"!!!. The coaches were not made aware of this until it was to late. Last thing my source said was that quite a few coaches are considering this season to be their "swan song" at HC. Only repeating what I was told.

 

I was told that Tony's mom was dealing with a family medical issue and was making a "good faith" effort to make arrangements to meet her total obligation.

I know you are just relaying the story LB13, but if that is true, it is flat out improper. Regardless of the situation, either you are a tuition paying student or you are not. Ridiculous.

They also have a high regard for a catholic education. Mom is a product of a private school education. They have been contributing members of the Walton Verona community. They believe their kids will be happier elsewhere. I believe they have the right to do what is best for their kids. Sports is a factor, it is not the only factor.

If true, why are two of the kids already well along in high school at WV? Sounds a lot more like disgruntled sports' parents/kids?
