Graybeard Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 What are your thoughts on this game? Greenup Co. has a new coach, and there have been a lot of revived interest in the program this spring and summer. It sounds like Ashland was dominated in the Campbell Co. scrimmage. Campbell Co. may just be that good. But, the Tomcats obviouls have a lot of work to do.
Ram Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I look for Ashland to win this game. It sounds like Greenup County is on the up swing, but it will take some time. I expect both teams to have some problems early, but I expect Ashland's running game to wear Greenup down. Ashland 28 Greenup County 7
how-u-doin Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I would not count Greenup out on this one. IMO we just might shock the whole community. The boys are pumped, physically fit, and ready to hit. And for the first time in a long time, BELIEVE they can win. GET-ER-DONE boys and have fun doing what you have practiced so hard for, playing football.:ylsuper:
Commander 25 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Ashland wins this one. I look for Ashland to dominate this game. They will have too much for Greenup. Coach C will have Greenup there in a few years he seems to be doing a great job.

Ashland better not underestimate this Greenup team.
oldrambler Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 GCHS will be much mproved but I think that the Tomcats will just have too much for the Muskies in this one. Ashland 31 GCHS 13
Painter Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 It’s a bit disappointing to hear Graybeards assessment of the Tomcats getting “dominated” in their most recent scrimmage. I trust that Coach Hart and company will go to work on shoring up any weaknesses revealed during that practice with Campbell Co. I look for GC to come out really fired up for this contest. There has been a whole lot of talk coming out of our Greenup neighbors this off season. Its great to hear that program is headed for brighter days. As for this opening game, I don’t know how far the hype will carry the Muskies though…how will they respond after getting a good ol’ fashioned rap in the mouth? Time will tell if there is finally some substance behind this hype.
Graybeard Posted August 16, 2009 Author Posted August 16, 2009 It’s a bit disappointing to hear Graybeards assessment of the Tomcats getting “dominated” in their most recent scrimmage. I trust that Coach Hart and company will go to work on shoring up any weaknesses revealed during that practice with Campbell Co. ... Sorry to disappoint Painter. But, I saw these posts (below) in the scrimmage thread. Ashland has a recent history of being slow starters. I believe that the Coaches will right the ship in time. I didn't see the game, but read that Campbell County dominated Ashland about as thoroughly as possible. They scored on all but 2 possessions, beating Ashland 41-0. They held Ashland scoreless for over 60 plays. ... Honestly, I expected Ashland to be better than this. I know they have good players at the skill positions and have heard that the line was looking good. I realize it was just a scrimmage, but what happened? Is Campbell County a state title contender this year or am I just wrong about Ashland? The game was played at Campbell Co. I missed the first hour of the scrimmage. When I got there it looked like the JV were on the field. Later in the scrimmage the starters went back out and Campbell Co moved down the field almost at will. Ashland had some good plays but couldn't seem to put enough plays together to score. I was told that the first hour was not much different than what I saw in the remaining two hours.
heath91 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I have to go with the Tomcats here. I'm not giving a score on first games, I usually won't give on e on the 8th game as far as that goes, but the Muskies are sure to come ready to play and Ashland knows it. I am a firm believer in coach Hart and his ability. I've heard alot of Asland fans giving Leon Hart alot of disrespect. They didn't look at the fact he was dealing with one of Ashland's biggest talent droughts. Dane Damaron had said when he was at Boyd County that he has never seen a coach make half time adjustments like Coach Hart. I knew who Coach Hart was when Ashland got him and I believe that the talent is comming back in Ashland. I see alot of wins for Ashland in the future, and I see it starting Friday night.
Bench350 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 GC- 17 Ashland- 14 Field Goal to win the game!lol
Ram Fan04 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I look for adrenaline to make this game close for most of the 1st quarter. But Ashland's depth and talent will end up to much for the Musketeers. Ashland-48 Greenup-14 Good luck to both teams and remain injury free.
sidelinedoc Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I honestly think this could be a late 4th qtr score to win either way. I guess knowing that you have to be 14 points better than Ashland at home (if you know what I mean) makes me go with the Tomcats.:idunno:
