First to Coupon, I understand what you are saying about the offense. But, unless Coach Hart lied, he said in the Ashland Preview, that they would still be in the I formation. Carter and Albner are still going to be running a lot. They will throw to Demartino and others, but I would say they still be running 70%.

 

Leatherneck, I have said it all preseason, Ashland is going to be a lot better then last year. If they are not, it because of something else other then not having the personnel. They have a lot back. Will they beat Highlands? No, they won't, but they will be good.

 

Still a tomcat, you will need more experience then 8 months and 33 posts to get an accurate read on who cries and who doesn't.

I would think you would be right, We will just like any other team that plays Ashland this year will have to stop the run first.

I have to go with the Tomcats here. I'm not giving a score on first games, I usually won't give on e on the 8th game as far as that goes, but the Muskies are sure to come ready to play and Ashland knows it. I am a firm believer in coach Hart and his ability. I've heard alot of Asland fans giving Leon Hart alot of disrespect. They didn't look at the fact he was dealing with one of Ashland's biggest talent droughts. Dane Damaron had said when he was at Boyd County that he has never seen a coach make half time adjustments like Coach Hart. I knew who Coach Hart was when Ashland got him and I believe that the talent is comming back in Ashland. I see alot of wins for Ashland in the future, and I see it starting Friday night.

You may very well be right, as I think I have already said. For what it's worth, I don't think they will beat Highlands either. But I'm not using that as a barometer. I just recall Ashland losing some very good players from last year. Do they have others capable of filling those shoes? You think so. I don't know as I don't know their kids the way you do.

 

My post in this thread was triggered by the results of their scrimmage against Campbell County. The Camels have a good team this year and I know a scrimmage is just a scrimmage. If Ashland played within a touchdown or two of the Camels I'd be more optimistic about the Tomcats. But I have to think the margin of loss has more than just me wondering if they are in fact better than last year. Again, the Camels will be a decent N. Ky 6A team this year, but they are not being mentioned as one of the teams favored to win the district (personally I hope they do as I always cheer for the Campbell County based teams) so if I was an Ashland fan I wouldn't take a lot of comfort in the fact that they got beat by a 6A school from N. Ky.
