Top Kickers in state

Featured Replies

So when did he kick the 64 yard field goal? 2005?

Yes someone needs to report these stats.

He did not kick a 64 yarder in any game.

Shane was the best I've seen at the highschool level. If he was not D-1 material than I am not sure just what it takes... Where did Popham choose to go to college? I am a friend of a father in Lexington whose son attended George Rogers Clark. His son got an offer from Georgetown, Ky. His son worked out with the Lex Indoor Arena team. He was good, per Dad, but I would not compare him to Popham.

Shane is going to Wake. It was either Gtown or EKU that sent the tape back saying they were not interested.

I 'll put Mitchell Jett from Dixie up as one of the Best K'ers ! Jett has been "V" for 3 yrs now and has good accuracy ! Strong leg and I've heard he's been working very hard in the off season ! :thumb:

One thing to consider and I would think that Gpopham would agree with me, you better have a very good center/line, and a good holder if you want to be a great FG kicker, as well as ice water in your veins. Pop had all three at CovCath and has ice water running through him during a game. Looking very forward to watching him one day at Wake....

btw, I still think that the Wake baseball coach should talk to the football coach to see if he would let the vaccuum play third base for Wake. Pop is indeed a vaccuum at third and is a very good hitter to boot.

There were some great kickers last year in KY, three to D1-A. I am looking forward to see the kickers this upcoming season.

Who are the punters that should be top in state? I think Paul Dunbar may have a good one?? It will be tough to see a punter like Tydl;acka again for a while.

I didn't see Highlands working very hard on special teams this spring...hopefully it's a priority summer project. If significant improvement isn't accomplished in the punting game (both sides), any big game would leave us disadvantaged.

McNutt from Mayfield will be one of the best, had a amazing kick against Hoptown for a win last year with no time left on the clock. Seems like that kick was a mid 40 yarder or so but looked like it would have been good from about 60. His kick offs are usually out of the endzone.

Lafayette's Kicker is a three year starter juggiling 2 sports. Went head to head against Popham and Uminger in Dayton in 2005 and came out on top.

Very close to an offer with a couple D-1 schools. Has had several D-1 visits from recruiting coordinators at Lafayette this spring. Will be in front of head coaches in a couple of weeks.

I think as far as kickoffs goes, the kicker Trinity had in '02 was the best ever. At PLD, he kicked the ball past the track.

He is solid plus I've heard he's pretty fast.

Karl Heinz-Williams, too bad he didn't play a the next level. He was impressive. I agree I think he was the best I have ever seen.

That's his name. He tops anyone ever discussed.

Big leg, very big. I did not think he had the best acc. when it came to PAT's and FG's.

Jared Kaufman from Ryle will be one of the top kickers next season. He could have started for almost any other team in NKY last season, but unfortunately had to take a backseat to Uminger for the past 2 years. He could hit from 57 last year with kickoffs landing in the endzone about everytime and has gotten a lot stronger during the offseason
