plantmanky
Gotta prep and cook it correctly. Make sure you soak for a generous period of time beforehand to reduce bitterness. I never plan to ever eat it, lol.
plantmanky
We had lobster at home this past Thursday (I cooked). Another invite lost in the mail.
Bengal Maniac
How about beef liver? Or perhaps chicken livers? Black eyed peas or even green peas? Lima beans? Olives? Anchovies? Creamed herring? What other common foods might people have not tasted? Yes, but I am not sure some of those are common.
Bengal Maniac
Liver - I refuse I actually like calf's liver and chicken liver.I haven't tried others.
Bengal Maniac
Plain 'ole eggs. The smell of eggs being cooked makes me nauseous, so I've never just eaten one. Not scrambled, not sunny-side up, not poached, and so on. You've eaten them a lot, just not solo.
JDEaston
For you seafood lovers, I also cooked up a pot of homemade oyster stew. Buttered potatoes, peas with mushrooms. Curious how you do your oyster stew. Do you leave them in the shell and let it open?
JDEaston
Another invite lost in the mail. He probably sent it through FedEx.
mcpapa
Another invite lost in the mail. Your eggplant aversion disqualified you. You should try the moussaka at a local Greek festival sometime.
True blue (and gold)
Not food, but I've never had coffee. I hate the smell.

Difficult if not impossible to find fresh oysters at a reasonable price here. My ingredients are the bare necessities. East coast oysters (the west coast oysters are nasty) - we get Kellum's from Kroger, green onions, lots of butter, milk and heavy cream and a bit of flour; don't put the oysters in until you're almost finished. A magic ingredient is just the tiniest pinch of saffron.

About the only good thing I can think of about living a few minutes from Huntington, WV is the ability to get fresh seafood at Jewel City. It's flown in daily and it is actually priced really well considering what part of the country we are in. If your ever in the area, you should definitely check it out, it's a restaurant as well, so you can sample it before you buy your take home items lol. nWo
Frog legs. my mom cooked some once and didn't cut the tendons. As she was frying them they started jumping around in the skillet. Didn't eat any then and have never eaten any.
Mitch Rapp
Gotta load 'em down with milk and butter, or gravy. Don't like them plain. Don't like hominy. Tried 'em several times. If you like shrimp and you ever find yourself between South Carolina and Louisiana, you owe it to yourself to give shrimp and grits a try. I have only had it a few times, but it has already earned a spot on my top five entrees list.

Wife makes a real good version, but South Carolina low country I must admit is better.
