I know the 3 years I started it was outstanding competition. Soph year was biggest win ever for LC at the time. Jr year we lost 35-34 in a barnburner. Sr year we were 7-0 going into Raceland and that's the only game we lost all year 3-0! Lots of rescpect for TJ + the Ram communitty. We always respected Bill Tom + the guys we played against. The had kids that could fly like Newman, Stewart then physical kids like Bostic! Doc I know Mike Salmmons well, he can point me out. You guys have a safe trip down. See you tonight!

Still 1 of the best Cinderella runs for a bunch of country kids at a school that had only won 1 playoff game in the hisotry of the school! This is the 1st time Lawrence Co has ever honored a team + on the 20th anniversary. Since this time LC has seen kids go on to coach in the NFL, 3 in the SEC, many in high school etc. Kids have gone on to win National Champoinships coaching, playing, state championships coaching etc. This group meant a lot to our little community.

If any of you guys are around early give me a yell. I'll be the coach w a gotee probably crying because they are honoring our 1st ever final 4 team (my Jr year) before the game. This will be the 1st team ever honored at LC. 20 years ago and still one of the biggest emotional cinderella runs in state history. Should be an article in the ADI Thurs maybe Fri. I'm really glad we are playing Raceland again. Probably the best respectful rivalry LC had in the past. We won our biggest game ever my Soph year. I think Raceland won 45-44 my Jr year. Then we rolled into Raceland my Sr year 7-0 and lost 3-0 for our only loss that year. Always a ton of respect between the kids+coaches. I got to see Coach Ross a couple of years ago and tell him as a foe how much respect I had for him playing against him. He also wrote us a letter the year we went to the final 4. I also coached Gerad Parker who coached at Raceland and love the support the communitty has there for the program. Safe travels and hope for a great game!

Unreal what they are doing but long season. Key injuries can change things quick. Obviously T always has depth but a lot of ball left too play IMO.

Rowan has really had a slew of talent about 3 years now. If you haven't gotten to see future Okl St basketball prospect + Rowan Co QB Adam Wing play you are missing one of the more underrated athletes in the state. He is a really nice ball player. Mentally, throwing the ball+running the ball.

He's great for comic relief! I admire his passion for his team. It's great! I would imagine he's got those that love+don't so much love around that area. I laugh most of the time knowing something entertaining is coming when he posts.

WOW 1 game in with a coach trying to build a new culture and he's alreday got parents on here slamming him. 5A school should have a lot of kids playing both ways. That way when they get in the playoffs vs good schools they can play teams that don't have hardly anybody playing both ways. Sheesh feel bad for the guy there that has gotten a ton of kids out of the hallways for the first time and is trying to build something.

I told people going into the season you better not sleep on Perry Central. They might have the best linebacker in the state and one of the best to ever play in Eastern KY.

PS for the people that knocked Jude on here before I'm glad now you actually get to watch him play. Most of those clips are against some really good competition too! He's legit!

I think he had 6 TD's on 9 carries with 300+ yds. Not a whole lot of padding there. The kid can play!

Tough job replacing a legand but I've coached against Coach Mills and felt like his kids were prepared+coached about as well as some of the best I've coached against. Disciplined, executed etc. Bell has a lot of talent again this year. I think he'll do just fine.

Bell Co is an Eastern KY team that should probably be ranked 1 or 2 in 3A. I'd say they have the best shot.

Did you ever see that Lawrence Co team play? You can throw out weak all you want they were good. Rowan was really good, Knox Central was right around top 5-7, Sheldon Clark went to the final 4 that year. I'm basing it off of seeing them and almost all the teams in the top 10 in person or film. Bell, Boyle, Loan Oak were in a league of their own that year. Without question I stand by my statement. If they were down I'd be honest. Last year LC was closer to 10 that year they were right around 5. 240lb RB that could scoot that went to Marshall. 6'4 TE that was a stud in the NEKY All Star game. Best corner ever to play here. 2nd RB was a multi year 1,000 yd rusher. Arguably the best safety that's ever played here who's sprinting for Eastern next year. Olineman that's going to Marshall. Solid QB that will play college ball. DB starting for Pikeville. OLB that was one of the better ever here. Other OLB that's playing college basketball. That team was legit from a talent standpoint and the deepest in LC history with only 2 kids playing both ways. My guess is you probably never even saw them play. Schedule was pretty weak I'll agree with you on that but there's no doubt in my mind outside of Bell+ possibly Johnson Central there's not a team in Eastern KY that year they couldn't have beaten. Last year not as good. This year lots of adversity to overcome but great group of core kids that have won.

That's great man! I love when teams honor their old players, teams etc. We're honoring our 1st Final 4 team 20 years later this year. Raceland is a great communitty and has always had my respect. We had some knock down drag outs back in the day. Physical and a lot of respect. It was fun.

Based on my opinion. I've coached in Louisville, Lexington and Eastern KY. I'll be honest when we're down and when we're up. That team was right around the top 4-7 range IMO. Not on Bell, Boyle level but right there with next group of teams. Last year right around 10 or so give or take a couple. This year the jury is out. Great core group but a lot of work to do. Hope to see us gel right around District time which is very possible with a tough/competitive schedule that includes programs like Ashland, Perry Central, Prestonsburg, Raceland, Letcher Central etc on the front end + Belfry/Sheldon Clark/Pike Co Central/East Ridge in District. IMO this year is going to be how well the kids stick together and grow as the season progresses. 9's a fair ranking to start the year I think. Potential to drop out or move up a lot.

Not true on Combs. We did lose one of our key players though to injury but it wasn't him. I guess you haven't watched Knox Central, Rowan Co etc play the last couple of years because if they are nobody's I have to question that. 2 years ago LC was a legit in the top 5 team in 4A. Last year closer to the 10 range in 4A. This year there's a lot of work to do can be boom or bust. 9 might be high early but they could surpass that late. I'm an unbiased guy that sees a lot of teams play.

That's great news! I coached Vinny back when he was in Middle School. You could tell at a young age he was going to be special. GREAT kid off the field too! Hate to see UK let him get out of their frontyard! Excited for Vinny!

QB is the toughest position in all of sports bar none. Preperation, spit decision making, 330lb guys wanting to kill you every play, 250lb LBer's running 4.6's sprinting from your blindside etc.

Not sure. One went to Rangers but don't know if that's him. Wasn't there a Cox that played for Ark and went to Cards not long ago.

You could probably add up all the runs on the season and they wouldn't total that. It was a bizzare game with as much hype/pressure as any game I've ever seen. Electric with lots of pressure on the kids. He was untouchable the last couple of innings when they came back. Pikeville has had a heck of a team the last 2 years.

I echo what you said. Rowan has had a nice run on talent but he did a great job coaching them. In that past that hasn't been a real easy job. He and his staff always had their kids prepared and were tough to deal with!
