Courier - Journal All State Team
I'd like to also say congrats to Taylor Killian (who will play college ball somewhere) for being on the Hon Men list. He is everything you could ever ask for out of a high school athlete! One of the few kids you meet that you hope your son turns out like!

Courier - Journal All State Team
Congrats to JR Tyler Combs on being 1st Team All State Oline! Congrats to Blake Bradley on 3rd team All State LBer. Congrats to Turner O'Brian who is the 2nd best safety I've been around behind Winston Guy at Safety. Congrats to Hunter James who broke the school record for regular season TD's this year. That group of kids won 1 game as Fresh/Soph but stuck together and have reaped the rewards. Proud of them all! Congrats to all the kids. Every year there are kids that are left off (I know one in our backyard) but it's great to see these kids get a Christmas present of a lifetime!

Bell County best team in 5 classes?
I left 6A out w Trinity. I said 1-5. Wasn't really looking at next year just asking about this year. Playing them last week felt like playing some of the old Highlands teams we played with Lorenzen/Guidluli etc. Probably not on that level but they were flawless skill wise and executed on both sides of the ball to near perfection. For those who haven't seen Knox they are right on Johnson Central's level. I'd be very interested to here from JC fans comparing Bell + Highlands since they have faced them both.

Bell County best team in 5 classes?
Like I said we'll know more after next week. I've been around T, X, Boyle, Highlands, Lex Cath, Belfry etc. I really think Bell is peaking at the right time and the only flaw I've seen is coverage team on special teams. They were up like 35-0 on Johnson Central at one point I think. The beat Harlan Central 30-0 or so too so we'll get a look there too. Boyle/Bell has been the anticipated matchup all year. Boyle deserves the respect too.

Bell County 41 Knox Central 13
Congrats to Bell. They are the best team from 1-5A IMO when healthy. Congrats to Knox. Anybody that saw Knox this year knows they had one heck of a football team right around top 5 in 4A IMO.

I thought so last week. I really think so this week. Next week will tell the tell I think. Thoughts?

3A: Central/North Oldham Updates
19-7 last I heard close to end of 3rd. North was going for the lead inside the 10 I think mid 3rd and got picked off and run back to the other 25 or so. It was 12-7 at that point I think. Central went on to score off the turnover. I think Central only had 2 1st downs in the 3rd quarter.

4A: Bell County/Knox Central Predictions
I've seen a lot of film on both. Obviously the two teams know each other well. I thought Knox played Bell awfully well on film and had their chances to win it. I would not be suprised if Knox pulled off a huge upset because they have a mamouth Dline and I think to beat Bell you have to be able to spread it out with a QB that can throw+run. Knox can do that. All that being said I don't see how you can pick against Bell right now. They are fundamentally as sound as it gets on both sides of the ball. QB can run, throw short and throw long. They have a really big high school line with multiple power backs. Davenport has a different gear than anybody I've seen this year. I'll go with Bell but this has been what Knox has begged for since last year. Wish I could see the game. I'll say both teams are really coached up to match the talent they have.

Congrats North Oldham. I'm proud of you guys!

Knox Central 49 Rowan County 36
Sounds like a great game. That's two really talented 4A teams!

Bell County 60 Lawrence County 7
Congrats to Bell Co. There is no weak spot on either side of the ball and they are disciplined. They are state championship caliber. Really proud of our kids at LC. That group of Sr's went from 1-20 to 23-2 over these last 4 years. Takes a lot of character to pull a miracle like that off. Both schools have a lot to be proud of. KYWildcat as for you it's our not are. Might want to check your boys scores the weeks before by the way. They won 66-0 2 weeks before we played lol. Personally I hate running up the score. I'm all for working on things just like Bell did before the half tonight.

Rowan County vs Knox Central Predictions
I'm anxious to see how this one plays out. I think Rowan is more talented at the skill spots than most that haven't seen them realize. I think Knox on a given night is good enough to beat Bell. Rowan probably has a little more explosive offense although Knox is explosive too and Knox is the better defense although Rowan was more physical this year on D than last. Knox is about as good as it gets in the box on defense in 4A. Really good Dline. Their QB has the ability to pull it down and cause problems just like Wing does for Rowan. Both QB's are really good. Cross is a little better than Terpin but he's talented. Rowan has more skill but Canady is the best WR although Hodge makes plays. Rowan special teams are better I think and Knox better on D. Both teams are very well coached. Knox very fundamental and Rowan very aggressive+tough to prepare for. Knox has to make the long drive. My gut says Knox but should be interesting.

Grant County's Mike Davis has resigned as head football coach
I've been able to meet a lot of great coaches around the state and I'm proud to call Mike a friend. You have a lot to be proud of and I'm glad you are going to be able to enjoy your kids before they are out of the house. Congrats on your accomplishments and best of luck whatever you end up doing. Rowan County 56 Montgomery County 35
Knox is definatly a top 10 team IMO. They are really good up front on D.

Rowan County 56 Montgomery County 35
Rowan puts a lot of pressure on you. Not only do they have all those athletes they also run 40+formations...no huddle a bunch.. trick plays etc.

Rowan County 56 Montgomery County 35
I have the upmost respect for Knox. I think they are very well coached, play hard and have talent. I think they are really good up front on the Dline (Knox). I've seen Knox, Bell, Rowan etc. Davenport is the fastest kid out of everybody. The skill set between Rowan + Bell isn't much different. Wing/Maddon are both very nice QB's. Wing's already been offered by Marshall. Cross can do it all (7TD's last night) and so can Davenport. Hodge/Wages/Williamson are all talented high school kids. I think Bell/Knox have the edge on D but Rowan can put up points. I definatly think they can beat Knox. I think Knox might be a slight favorite but I think it's a very intriguing matchup that could go either way. I hope they meet up. Knox/Rowan have flown under the radar some. Both teams are talented and well coached.

Rowan County 56 Montgomery County 35
Rowan Co is much more talented than most give credit. Wing the QB already has D1 offers as a JR. Cross is the best back in the history of the school. Williamson is as fast as a compliment back as there is around Eastern KY and Hodge is a nice WR. Congrats to Rowan on the best regular season in school history.

Crazy game going on in Texas
WOW!

Henry Clay 85 Tates Creek 52
Anybody know how Vinny Miller, Jerry Williams and Blake Green did? I coached them in middle school and all 3 of them were outstanding athletes with big time speed.

What makes a good Official?
I had an officiating class in college as an elective. That was pretty much the golden rule they preached in it. To have a safe game and what you said.

Rowan County 34 Lawrence County 13
I heard Wing got offered by Marshall this weekend? Is that true? We talked to a Marshall scout before the game. If so congrats to him. He's a very nice player and seems to be a solid leader too. He did it all Fri. Fumble return for TD. Int. 3-4 rushing TD's. Pretty nice night for a 6'4 QB with a nice arm.

Sheldon Clark 22 Belfry 6
I called this one. People that look at SC's record are going to be fooled. This team is good enough to get to the final 4 or carpet!
