North Oldham 31 Oldham County 20

No surprise at all. North is a solid team with most of their starters back from last year, when they won 8 games. Zach Evans, Josh Smith, and Jacob Raymond form a quality backfield, and the line is solid. Defense is a bit of a question mark, though.

I think North has to be favored in their district, which is overall down this year, anyway.

First win for North over a 6A team...of course, it's only the second 6A team they've faced in the school's 9 seasons...

Oldham shot itself in the foot tonight, though, in a game they could have won. Too many first half penalties, and three lost fumbles in the red zone (on the North 19, 6, and at the goal line) killed them.

Oldham will be fine, although they don't look like a top 10 6A team (which they were when they were last in 6A). They're in a year in which they have very little returning experience from last year and the line is on the smallish side. They'll compete, though, and look to be much better next year.

Oldham lost most of last years team and loses alot again this year. They will struggle in 6A. Don't see them ever competing. Middle school has not won a game past 2 seasons. North has a better team and they knew it that's why they scheduled oldham and dodged them up till now
No dodging check out North's record and OC's over the last six years. Before Matt Brown got to OC-North would have beaten OC those years. Both teams tried to play the last 3 yr cycle but it would have been game 10, and neither Coach Brown or Coach Martin wanted to beat up on each other before the playoffs.

365,

Or should I say 365 days of sour grapes.

So you would have been fine with a dominating OC team scheduling 3A teams but now your complaining that an up and coming 4A team has an unfair advantage against the Colonels? Yes you must be correct in your logic because all North could come up with last year to avoid the towering Colonel team was the meek , talentless and mild mannered J-Town team as an early season judgment game.

Great win.

Keep rolling Mustangs.

I see no reason why Oldham should "struggle" in 6A. They perhaps may not be as competitive this year or even next, but - other than the fact 6A pretty much mails its trophy to X & T - Oldham should do fine. The last time Oldham was in 6A they were a perennial top 10 team... and before that, Oldham spent time in 4A when 4A was the largest class. Over the last two decades Oldham has competed just fine with regular wins over teams such as Manual, PRP, Ballard, Fern Creek, and Eastern.

Oldham fans have no need to worry.

And for North fans, congrats on the nice win and best of luck on what should be a district championship season.
