  1. The E-town Panthers (0-8) travel to New Castle Friday for a date with the Henry County Wildcats (1-7). Should be a good one for the right to meet Bell County in the 1st round of the playoffs. Leonards Loser is?
  2. The Bullitt Central Cougars (2-3) come to New Castle Friday night for a game with the Henry County Wildcats (0-5). It will be Senior night at the game. Anybody want to take a shot at this one? Who gets the win?
  3. Henry County has Shelby County this week for a homecoming date. Both are 0-4 but Henry did make a better effort last Friday at Bellevue losing by a point. What do you think about this one? One team gets its first win of 2011.
  4. Hey True Blue, Got a lot of things going on this year that are not football related. Have managed to see two games. Will not be going to Bellevue due to other commitments. Looks like the Raiders are going along well. It appears that the local teams should have stayed on Henry's schedule this year and next. Could have been some barn burners. I really haven't seen a lot from Henry this year. All schools go through cycles especially the smaller ones. Could be a down year for the Wildcats.
  5. Henry County (0-3) travels north for a contest with Bellevue (2-1) Friday night. Do the visiting Wildcats break into the win column this week?
  6. Woodford put it on a usually pretty good Nelson Co. last week. Henry lost to a team they should not lose to. It's not shaping up as an "instant classic". Henry must practice this week on ball security. Way to many turnovers to win in any league, pop warner thru the NFL. You just can not give the ball away and expect good things to happen. Let's hear from the Yellowjackets.
  7. Henry Co. defense definitely has some work to do before they challenge anyone on that side of the ball. Offense was adequate for opening game with a new QB. Linebackers have got to play downhill and D ends can't take themselves out of plays by rushing up field 5-6 yards. DB's must challenge every pass play. Special teams were below average. Why squib the kickoff and give excellent field position to your opponent every time? Give your kids a chance to make a play.
  8. Well, I guess that camp is over for the fighting Wildcats. Did anyone stand out or make a move up the depth chart. Didn't get to see them personally. Anyone?
  9. The one Henry Co. program that seems to have not moved forward is girls basketball. Coach Gilley has had some tough years and will have more. What is the problem? Other programs are getting good numbers of athletes out and posting good progress. Baseball, football, track, golf all are doing well.
  10. Is Dennis Ledford on the Mercer staff? If so what will be his duties?
  11. I have heard that Coach I. has been given the job of coaching both the offensive and defensive lines for the Wildcats. If this is true, it seems a bit unfair to everyone involved, players and coach. You can't learn this stuff overnight.
  12. How's the 7 on 7 passing games going for the Wildcats so far? Do they have more scheduled? When and where? Who do they scrimmage and where on August 13th?
  13. Maybe he'll bring back the A-10.............
  14. Who will be the "go to" guys for the fighting Wildcats in 2011. How much game experience does this team have? Who wil be the Q.B. and follow in the cleat marks of a three year starter? What type offense can we look forward to? Any good special team players? How many will start practice next week?
  15. Thanks, Ram. But I'm guessing the Sept. 30 game is Louisville Central. Pretty tough schedule for a team that has been on a good run in the last several years.
  16. Can someone post Henry County's 2011 schedule. I have heard the Dairy Bowl has only two teams this year. Why? Is that right? Are the opposing schools all under contract for this season's games? Heard that might need to be done as well. Three coaches will be stretched to the limit trying to manage their team. Could be a very tough year for the Cats.
  17. There needs to be people in place to delegate to. I think one guy is handling the load now. It would be hard to manage 40-50 kids in the weight room and be successful.
  18. Been another week and no sighting of the head coach. This ain't gonna work to well. Kids need to see their leader and need to know he is committed to them and the program. You can't "mail it in". Doesn't matter who you are and how many games you have won. You're either in or out. As the old sayin goes: "You're either for me or you're agin' me, and if you're agin' me you can't be for me ever agin' ".
  19. Hey Dark Horse. I see good news travels fast. I don't know quite what to make of this new fellow. You know the senior class this fall will have had at least 4 head coaches in just over one year. Got to be some kind of a record. How can anything be built upon like that? Expensive spirit packs, cell phones and service, new appliances, new locker room flooring, all expenses paid travel and who knows what else. Granted I am hearing this second handed but my source is very reliable. And supposedly Coach Spencer is not going to call Henry County home, choosing to live elsewhere. It gets more interesting by the day. We shall see....
  20. Been fairly quiet at H.C. since the hiring of new head coach, Jason Spencer. What's shaking with him? Is he coming to weight room workouts? How many are lifting? Is he going to put on a spring practice? What about assistant coaches? Only thing going around is that he has made some a lot of requests at his first Touchdown Club meeting such as new flat screen T.V.s, double the fundraising from last year, wanting to be reimbursed for mileage each time he travels to the school, no out of pocket expense for any reason. Really? And there are others. Correct me if I'm wrong, but has he won a single game yet? I didn't think so. Coming into a new situation and making numerous demands is not a good way to get people excited and in your corner. H.C. has been on the uptick for the last six years. If he handles the program right, it could be a good thing. Otherwise, not so good. Let's talk about this thing.
