  1. What is the plan for Coach Spencer to gather assistant coaches? The great ones such as Vince Lombardi or Knute Rockne couldn't do it by themselves. The biggest challenge ahead is trying to get some coaches into the building at Henry County. I hope Spencer asked the right questions about such things as assistants, football budget, admin. support and so on. Good Luck Coach Spencer. You have a huge task just ahead of you.
  2. The Henry County football program will be searching for a new head coach in the near future. Coach Lyndon Johnson, who handled being put in a tough situation very well, was given a one year "interim" hire. The new coach must also put together an almost new staff as many assistants are not returning. I hope they don't wait to long to begin the search and let qualified candidates be hired elsewhere. Henry County, don't drag your feet on this one. The program is in good shape. Don't let it backslide into being mediocre. Build on a good thing and move forward. Several years of players and coaches have worked too hard to see their program go south now. Good freshman class next year to build on. Several good, experienced returning lettermen. Do the right thing and get busy hiring the best person to take us in to the new district next year. Good luck.
  3. The Mustangs have plenty of time to get ready for their next opponents, who are neither bigger, faster or stronger. (Don't know about the older part). Who do you prefer to play, Knute?
  4. Moore will pass it 80-90% of the time. Quaterback is a scambler and always tries to get some kind of pass off. #1 is a good receiver and the Q.B.'s favorite target. Must contain the Q.B. and pressure him all night.
  5. What happened Friday night in this game? Can't seem to get any info.
  6. Henry County could be peaking at the right time. Averaging 54 points a game over last three games, defense gave up two scores in last two outings. Moore has some talent for sure, but they will have a hard time stopping the Wildcat juggernaut Friday night. This one goes to the Wildcats.
  7. Knute get a bye into the second round of the playoffs. Is that true? Two weeks to prepare.
  8. Bet old Knute is doing backflips knowing he has two weeks to get ready for the second round vs E-town or W.H.
  9. Who said anything about Gallatin, Knute? You can't really be looking past the first two rounds of the playoffs at Central can you? That would be foolish to do so. Good luck.
  10. The Eminence back should not be tired this point in the season. Oh yeah, they don't condition the Warriors and attending practice is up to the players. I saw Eminence players going to the concession stand at half time for a hot dog and coke one time. Can't expect them to be in shape. It's not the players fault. Vaerona should win this one.
  11. North is in for an all night smash mouth game. It could help them but more than likely it will not. E.J. takes no prisoners. They are a big, solid football team. Running back is all that. If they can slow him down they have a shot.
  12. The Henry County football Wildcats end their regular season in Warsaw Friday night against the Gallatin County Wildcats. Henry is coming off two district wins against Western Hills (61-33) and Spencer County (41-8). Henry gets district second place and a home game in he first round of the playoffs. Gallatin lost last week to Bracken Co. by three scores. Who wins and why?
  13. Henry over Spencer 41-8. Henry came out and took care of business. 28-0 at the half. Good defensive night. Offense had their moments, too. Punt return for 6 from John Allgeier. Great night for Homecoming and Senior night. Gallatin next Friday in Warsaw. I have heard the rumor that Henry hooks up with WV next year.
  14. Spencer will try to muscle Henry Co. tonight. Ain't gonna work. Henry will jump ahead quickly forcing Spencer to go to the pass and that will be their defeat. They do not throw very well and Henry will pick a couple for scores. Meanwhille, I think Western Hills has a darn good chance to beat North Oldham giving the district title and home field playoffs to Henry County. Ain't life grand?
  15. Magness was playing linebacker because the regular starter did not dress due to an injury.
  16. Spencer won't pass it much. Likes to line it up and play smash mouth since they lost the Smith kid. Also heard that after last night's Owen/Henry J.V. game which Henry won soundly, Owen contacted Henry A.D. and said "No mas". They are wanting out of any future games with Henry at any level. That makes Owen, Carroll, Trimble and Eminence, all local schools, not wanting to play Henry anymore. What gives? Western Hills is also out in the new district assignment for the next four years, leaving Henry now looking for two games next year. Henry's new district: Louisville Central, Elizabethtown & Larue County. Opposite district has Bell County and Corbin. Won't be much traveling for those playoff games. One other thing, Henry did have J.V. Defense on field much of the second half against Hills. Game was decided in first half.
  17. The Wolverines of Western Hills come to Goshen Friday for a game with the North Oldham Mustangs. Hills is trying to clear their heads after being beaten soundly by Henry County. North won their second district game and can clinch the district with a win Friday. A Western Hills win along with a Henry Co. win makes a three way tie for the district. And from what I can hear the district title will go to Henry Co. on their strength of schedule. Don't know that to be the gospel, only telling you what I hear. Luck to everybody. Should be a great night for football, again.
  18. The Spencer Co. Bears travel to New Castle Friday for a date with the Henry Co. Wildcats. Spencer is having a tough year to be sure but played better against North last week. Henry is coming off maybe their most complete game of the season against Western Hills. Hopefully, Henry can have all hands on deck. They have yet to have all of their intended starters on the field in any single game. Last week, two linebackers were nursing injuries and their running back/linebacker left the game in the 2nd quarter. Injury bugs are hard on small schools no matter who they are. Tell us what you think happens Friday.
  19. Coach Buckett, you were a tad off on your prediction for this game. Don't bet against the Wildcats.
  20. Henry played their best overall game this year. Made good on Hills' mistakes, ran and passed well, defense applied pressure. Henry could be peaking at the right time. Spencer is next.
  21. As someone who has seen both South and Anderson beaten by Henry Co. this year, I think Anderson has too many weapons for South to come away with a win. Playing at home will certainly give South some help. If they can limit their turnovers, they could make a game of it. I think the Bearcats by two scores.
  22. Coach Davis better hope for a win against J-town. They will not win against Oldham Co.
