Big Class 5A / District 4 game with playoff ramifications. Winner of this game has huge leg up on claiming second place in the district, and home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

South Oldham has never played a home playoff game in the history of the school, so this could be a biggie.

Both teams still have a shot at the district crown, particularly Anderson County, which will play district favorite Oldham County next week.

South improved to 2-1 in district play by beating Grant County, 36-3, last week. Anderson got a non-district win over Bullitt Central, a game that may help the Bearcats a ton in case of a tiebreaker.

Last year's matchup was a ten point affair in Lawrenceburg...what happens this year?

The game will be broadcast by the Pegasus Sports Network at http://www.pegasussportsky.com, beginning at 7 pm. It will also be archived for later listening.

This is a huge game as the winner almost certainly stays home in the first round of the playoffs and the loser almost certainly goes on the road...

Current district standings:

Oldham County 2-0 vs. Grant County this week, vs. Anderson County next week

South Oldham 2-1 vs. Anderson this week

Anderson County 1-1 vs. South this week; vs. Oldham County next week at Lawrenceburg

Jeffersontown 1-2 vs. Grant County next week

Grant County 0-2 vs. Oldham this week; vs. Jtown next week

The sound of the crickets is deafening...this should be a VERY GOOD game; one of the more exciting ones on tap in the area. Nobody talking about it??

As someone who has seen both South and Anderson beaten by Henry Co. this year, I think Anderson has too many weapons for South to come away with a win. Playing at home will certainly give South some help. If they can limit their turnovers, they could make a game of it. I think the Bearcats by two scores.

South by 3.

I stated earlier that South has never hosted a playoff game. That is correct, but - that creates a slight mis-perception I should elaborate on. While that is a fact - and the opportunity to play in the playoffs at home is something that is really exciting the South fans - it implies that South has never qualified for a home game. In fact, they did one season. South had some VERY good teams in the 1990s, and they did qualify for a home playoff game one season in the early 1990s. However, their field was in no condition to play football that particular season, and their game was played instead at the old Cardinal Stadium in Louisville.

My prediction in this one: South Oldham 35, Anderson County 21. The South offense is really clicking right now, and I'm afraid Anderson is playing a bit erratic. It all depends on which AC team shows up. Honestly, the 35-21 prediction might be a "tweener" prediction - the right AC team would make this a shootout, down-to-the-wire kind of game. If the AC team that played Jtown shows up, it may be more like 35-14.
