  1. I predict Trimble is ready for basketball season.
  2. Louisville Moore visitis Henry County Friday in 1st round playoff action. Sounds like the weather might be o.k. Who advances?
  3. North contiues to struggle with their young warriors.
  4. Congrats to the Fightin' Wildcats of Henry Co. on a great season, now its time to play your very best football of the year. Playoffs next Friday night at home!
  5. Final regular season game at Henry Co. Senior night for a group that have won 2 district championships (07, 09) and were regional runner ups in 2007. Gallatin chances in this one, let's hear from you. :taz:
  6. Knute, I expected more from the Mustangs. Don't overlook you playoff opponent.
  7. Trimble can not stay with Frankfort's speed. 40-13
  8. Henry County wins this game and sweeps the district two out of the last three years. Hope everyone come out of the game O.K. and ready for the payoffs in two weeks. Go Cats, Just win, baby.
  9. Time to get it started. Who wins this game in Taylorsville? Henry on a roll and Spencer was rolled over last Friday. Weather iffy for now.
  10. Congrats Knute and the Stangs. Good turn around from a week ago. You can beat Hills running the football. Keep pressure on Curry, he does not throw it well on the run. Check #25 at the LOS and his favorite target is shut down. Wright is their ball carrier but he left the game late and didn't return. All for now.
  11. Congrats to Coach E., his staff and the Fightin' Wildcats of Henry County. Clinched the district against a worthy opponent from Western Hills. Now I got to get this off my skinny chest. Article in the Frankfort paper sayin' as how Hills would come in here and play "smash mouth" with Henry Co. I bet they had a light breakfast this morning because of their sore mouths. Played right into Henry's hand trying to out muscle the Cats. Henry appeared to be the stronger, more physical team. Turnovers about the same, bad calls or no calls about the same. Bottom line is Henry County had the better team on this night by 7 points. Way to go Cats, see you in Taylorsville next Friday night.
  12. The Communist-Journal picks Spencer over North. But, then again, they picked North over Henry. Go figger.
  13. South Oldham will not win this game, period. Anderson name the score in a cake walk.
  14. Gotta' believe that North has another long night at home Friday against the Bears of Spencer Co. Spencer has a nifty ground game with two very good backs and they will run over, around and through the Mustang defense. North gave up too many rushing yards against Henry last week to think otherwise. Shaping up to be Coach Billly and the Stangs at the Beehive for the first round playoff game. That's never good. Good luck Knute but I'm afraid that won't be enough.
  15. Well, Howdy folks, Ol' Leonard here returning after a week off where I had to take care of some of that family business. Missed Henry's beat down over North Oldham but if you remember I did call for a Wildcat win before I left town last week. Dem Mustangs just didn't have enough horses so to speak. Maybe Coach Billy should think about another Homecomeing opponent next year. Gonna' be a different animal to skin altogether this week. Coach Don Miller brings his mangy pack of Wolverines into the Wildcat lair this Friday night. And they are bringing a good team to tangle with them felines of Coach Chris Engstrand. Both teams are sporting 5-2 records and both won their first district game last Friday night. Hills had a tougher time with Spencer, however, than Henry did with North. Hills comes in with highly touted, sasquatch sized, q.b. Dylan Curry, who is a big time high school q.b. He throws and runs very well for his team. He is helped out in the backfield by I-back Justin Wright, a solid ball carrier. A good offensive line rounds out the offensive side of the ball. Their defense does not appear as impressive as their offense. Henry comes in after a good effort against North, maybe their best all round effort of this season. Pete Baldwin continues to grow as a running back while Lance Timberlake is a breakaway threat each time he gets a touch. Q.b. Luke Magness has thrown for well over a 1000 yards already and is turning into a complete player this year. The Cats have a good, solid defense anchored by all-state linebacker Erich Butler who is getting looks from several colleges. Defensive end Dylan Doll dominated North with his all over the field play. The junior had his best defensive game ever in Goshen. Hills will have to find Doll and deal with him all night. Anyone who saw the game these two played last year know this will be a close game. Hills won that game 38-34 on an on side kick recovery late in the game after Henry had rallied from 20 down to go ahead. But it ain't over til its over and the Cats learned a tough lesson last year. Will the weather be a factor Friday night? Don't know, but my guess is a sloppy field goes in favor of the Cats just as it did last week. The little smart pill machine had to put in extra duty this week to come up with a pick for this one. Hills will come in ready and certainly able to pick up the win. But I think Henry's win last week brought the team together for really the first time this year. I see a confident and determined group of Wildcats coming into this game Friday night. And they ain't nothing anymore dangerous than bunch of good ol' country boys playin' their hearts with their football brothers under the Friday night lights. Leonard's loser and maybe even a loser in OT, Western Hills. Percy we got to get to WallyWorld and buy up some of them rain suits. Get me outta' here.
  16. No excuses for this game. Both teams had a week off to get healthy. I don't think North is as good as last year. Henry is probably some better because they played a lot of sophs. last year. And the good thing about sophomores is they become juniors. Bad weather predicted for Friday. Don't know if that favors any one team. Henry has played a beefed up schedule this year to get better prepared for the district schedule. We'll see how that plays out. I'm going with the Wildcats is a nail bitin', snot bubblin', rip snorter. Go Cats!
  17. Trimble Co. get a district win against a hapless Bracken team.
  18. This will be another tough district game. Weather forecast is not favorable for Hills and their passing game. Spencer gets the nod here. The Bears by one score.
  19. We're coming for the win. Huge game for both teams. Go Cats!!
  20. North will name the score. Enjoy, Henry Co. is next up.
  21. Well, Howdy football fans, Ol' Leonard here for the second half of the high school season. You know I'm still lickin' my wounds from last Friday's ol' fashin visit to the wood shed with Anderson Co. Make no mistake, Anderson is a good team, are they that much better than Henry, I don't think so. This Friday, the Wildcats of Coach Chris Engstrand take a long road trip down river to Owensboro to be the Homecoming date for the Owensboro Catholic Aces. The Aces are currently 1-4 but have been playing some good teams. Teams are scoring at a rate of 44 ppg against them while they can only muster 22 ppg. They won their opener and are on a four game skid. Henry Co. MUST shore up their special teams, team tackling, and receivers MUST start catching Luke Magness' passes if they hope to make a run in their district. Too many dropped balls, missed tackles, and too much return yardage will haunt you in the end. If one or two of the potential touchdown passes had been caught last Friday it could've changed the whole complexion of the game. One bright spot Friday came late in the game when Soph. Conner Johnson ran the football like it was made to be carried, hard and punishing. Hope to see more of him as the season unfolds. Enough about last Friday. Catholic is not the Catholic they were just a few short years ago when Coach Mojo Hollowell had them in three state championship games from 1997 to 2005. They are beatable. But the felines from New Castle can't go down there and just go through the motions, Catholic is hungry for a win and they think Henry Co. will be glad to accomodate. It will be a hostile atmosphere. Anything less than a great team effort from Henry will send the Cats home with their tails tucked. Hey guys, wake up, the season is half over, its time to start playing kicka** football. Henry needs this win going into district play in two weeks. I've had to take the little smart pill machine to dinner and a movie just to get back on speaking terms after last Friday. And I had to promise to never doubt her again. We have no any quarrel this week. Coach John Edge and his Aces will be holdin' the "dead man's hand" when this one is over. Henry is the homecoming spoiler, Leonard's loser, Owensboro Catholic.......Percy, get me to the river and let's head downstream.
  22. The Wildcats have to regroup for a trip to O'boro Catholic this Friday. What can they do to make a better showing?
