  1. Henry County will be looking to win for a boost going forward against Central next Friday. Must stop Reyes for a chance at win. He is a solid back but they tend to rely a bit much on him. Henry's seniors will leave every ounce of it on the field tomorrow night. Good luck Cats, send the seniors out the right way.
  2. Well, Howdy neighbors, 'Ol Leonard here with another important football prognostication. My little smart pill machine has been working overtime for to figure this one out. Coach P. brings his Bears into the hostile environment of "The Hill", Friday night in New Castle. While his Bears have only a couple of wins this season they are still a formidable foe for the Wildcats of Henry County. This game has big time playoff implications written all over it. If North handles Western Hills tonight and Henry stops Spencer, then there is a three way tie for second place in the district race. And it is believed that Henry will get the nod after counting the tiebreaker games. This means a first round home playoff game. But it means the same for the other two teams as well. The playbooks will be opened tonight at both sites. The weather man is certainly not showing he is a football fan today. Heavy rain today that should taper off late afternoon. Nevertheless, the field will not be in very good shape and the wet conditions could affect Henry's air attack. But if the Cats run the ball as well as they did last week (almost 400 yards on the ground) the conditions will not be a factor. Spencer has a more ground oriented attack and with two good backs that will give their best effort tonight. Look for a short game with both teams using their grounds games to eat up yardage and clock. Special teams play could decide this one. Leonard's loser in a low scoring, sloppy, gridiron toe to toe battle.....Spencer County. Get me outta' here Percy, I need to find my rainsuit for this one.
  3. Weather speaks of a possible rainy night. Who does this hurt the most?
  4. What will happen Friday night in New Castle?
  5. Suprer B it will be interesting to read your account of the game this week. We will see just how objective you are. I'll have to come buy one of the local rags.
  6. You gotta' crawl before you can walk. Henry County is making the transition to become a good football program. It doesn't happen overnight or in one year's time even. Many factors go into a good program. Among them are youth feeder programs, middle school program, school administration support, football facilities such as the new fieldhouse that we got into this year, community support and a solid coaching staff in place. Henry County now has all these pieces in place. They will continue to get better and better. I would not begin to compare Henry to any of teams that you mentioned. Only compared them against the NCKC competition. Anyways, next year there will be a new conference champion. Good luck to your Panthers.
  7. Congrats to the 2008 NCKC champion Henry County Wildcats. 4-0 against conference opponents and outscored them by 210-20. That would seem to fall into the dominant category. All American says Henry had bad sportsmanship and no class, but failed to mention the four personal foul and unsportsmanlike penalties Carroll had on one play alone. Henry's no class J.V. team played the 4th quarter and they scored as well. The old smart pill machine was dead on for this contest. Be careful who you ask to your dance!
  8. Congrats to the 2008 N.C.K.C. champs from Henry County. This year they have outscored their conference opponents 210-20. I think that falls into the dominant category by any one's count. All American you want to talk sportsmanship when Carroll had 4 unsportsmanlike and personal fouls on one play? I suppose your idea of class and mine don't match up to well.
  9. Well, Howdy neighbors, it's time for your weekly dose of Ol Leonard. I know you missed me last week but it couldn't be helped. Let's get right down to the pronosticatin'. Those fearsome Felines from Henry County take a trip over the hill to the river bottom to face off with Coach Weedman's Black Cats of Carroll County on Friday night. Henry is coming off a tough loss at Western Hills last week. But Coach Engstand's Wildcats showed a lot of intestinal fortitude coming back from down 24-7 in the 3rd quarter to forge ahead 34-24 in the final frame. Looks like they just ran out of gas from the rally. Meanwhile the Panthers were getting the best of their old rivals from Owen County. This rivalry has split over the last two seasons. Carroll smashed Henry in '06 and Henry returned the favor last year. Friday the Wildcats'll get their hackles up when going in to be a homecoming date. Carroll should have given more thought when choosing their dance partners. Henry can score in bunches with several different players crossing the goal line. The Henry defense is a solid bunch of headhunters. The Panthers have four wins this year but number five will be a while. Carroll doesn't have the hosses to stay with Henry County. It should be a great high school football night, 'specially if you wearin' red and white. Leonards loser in a battle...Carroll County. Get me outta' here Percy.
  10. Erick Butler @ Henry County. Just a junior.
  11. Best of luck to both teams. Grant wins in a battle.
  12. Sportsnut, Old Henry Man said that Henry has several key players injured and will not play. By saying that, I don't think he's talking about a freshman with a sore ankle , do you?
  13. Henry Co. can't win. If you play the locals in the NCKC and beat them up, you're paper champions and should be playing bigger schools. If you can't work out scheduling with the locals then it's "why don't they play the locals" It can't be both ways. Henry Co. is ramping up their schedule next season, as I understand it Eminence and Carroll are not a part of it.
  14. Old Henry Man, Why is it you persist in giving out all important team information to anyone with a computer? This is not the NFL, KY high schools are not required to post an injury report, why do you feel it is necessary? You have done this already this year. Why? Some things are better left unsaid. Loose lips sink ships.
  15. Sorry Cats, your game Friday will be against a pack of overgrown ground hogs (wolverines) and not lizards as previously posted. Leonard's still celebrating the win against the semi-warriors.
  16. Well, Howdy neighbors and what a glorious Saturday morning it is. Henry County completely dominated their arch rival Eminence 55-6 for what seems to be the last time in the series. What a shame. I think after watching the contest most people see why Eminence Coach Fro says they have a scheduling conflict with H.C. They don't have a scheduling conflict they have a competition conflict. Just don't have what they need to make a game of it. The schools should have consolidated long ago anyways. By the way #33 has bruised ribs and nothing more. Good for him and the Wildcats. Tough district game this next week at Western Hills. Good luck Cats and take it to those overgrown green lizards Friday night. Get me outta here Percy, Kentucky vs. Alabama this afternoon. Ribs on the smoker. Hope they can make a game of it.
  17. Well all you football fans, Ol' Leonard is reporting in a few hours early because of a visit to the horse doctor tomorrow morn. Eminence is undefeated and a hot team on a roll and Henry Co. is still trying to right the ship after a tough loss to North Oldham just a week ago. The Warriors have some real thing threats in Dre Banta, T.J. Cooper and especially Ed Berry who is a receiver in a class by himself. Those pesky felines from New Castle had better be on their toes for a good old fashion slug fest when the crew from the south come to visit. County braggin' rights are on the line. Now its been reported in the local paper that this is the final game of a series that runs back into the mid sixties. What a shame. Coach Fro says there is a scheduling conflict. I don't know whether to believe that or not. The Warriors supposedly had plenty of open dates before this season began to schedule the Wildcats for future games. Can't handle the pressure Coach Fro? Need to travel back to Georgia and Tennessee for wins and more "National Championships"? Just where is the conflict? Anyways, this meeting could be the last for some time. I think this one could be a battle for 4 quarters. If Henry County can come out and take care of business early the game could be over by the half. Eminence will have to resort to Pop Warner plays to try and make a game of it. If H.C. lets Eminence stay close it will be a battle. Foxy Wright says you could fire a shotgun in downtown Eminence Friday night and not hit a single person as everyone will be in New Castle for the game. Should be another good high school football night. Everybody come on out and see what could be the end of a great football rivalry. Leonard's loser taking their first defeat......Eminence.
  18. Sorry I did not reply to the game sooner, but the system was down. Congrats to North on a tough win. I hope it works out that we can meet again this year.
  19. Well good morning all you purveyors of the pigskin. Ol Leonard is just about to bust waitin' for this one tonight. Let's get right down to it. North Oldham @ Henry County. This game has all the makin's of a humdinger. Two undefeateds, important district game and N.O has been invited to the homecoming dance. Coach Billy Martin's herd of wild ponies makes the trip to "The Hill" for what is sure to be a slobber knocker. Them pesky Wildcats of Coach Chris Engstrand defend their house as well as anybody around having not lost there since mid 2006. Them ol' boys that sits the bench at the courthouse everyday says that Henry Co. has gone hog wild and pig crazy over their football team. And why not. High rankings, shutouts, news crews around and just the best fans anywhere. Coach Martin was the previous head football coach at H.C. When he departed three years ago saying the cupboard was bare, little did he know that the Cats would become the number 1 pain in his a... He is winless against them in three tries. There is still some bad blood brewing among the Henry Co. faithful and it won't be no different tonight. So much for the soap opera, now to the game: The Mustangs hava run up some scores against weaker opponents as has Henry Co. The stat that stands out is that Henry Co. has not been scored on in 16 quarters. And their defense has scored in every game. I don't care who your opponent is a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then. Will it happen tonight? Don't know. Both offenses can score but the Cats have nine players in the scoring column, nine ball carriers and eight that have caught passes. No way can you lock down one or two and hope to stop them. N.O. relys a great deal on Mr. Tuller to get their work done. Henry's defense get the nod over N.O. and the kicking game goes to N.O. Also N.O. has had two weeks to prepare for tonight as they were open last week. As you can see this one sets up to be a a goodun. One last thing, if you're faint of heart don't watch this one. There will be some train wrecks, de-cleaters, snot bubblers and yacks tonight. If you do make it, you might want stop by Billy Dick's and get some Rolaids before coming through the gate. Your stomach may not feel so good when this one is over. The little smart pill machine has been runnin' as slick as it ever has this year. I don't expect this game to be any different. Leonard's loser in a 4 quarter street fight...North Oldham. Let's go Percy we need to go so we can get a good seat tonight. Get me outta' here.
  20. TB&G, Get $5.00 from your momma and come on over to the game.
  21. Quiet tonight on here. Is it the quiet before the storm? Less than 24 hours til game time.
