Big K 61 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Totally a shocker to me!! Congrats to N.O. for a convincing district win.

ColonelMike Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Game over 12 seconds in... Zach Evans runs opening KO back 85 yards... kick blocked NO 6 - 0 Spencer County fumbles away the ball on their first possession, but NO has to punt it back. Spencer then goes three and out, but the long snap to the punter is high, and he's tackled on the Bear 21 yard line. Moments later, Evans is in the EZ again, running it in from 8 yards out. North fakes a PAT, and the pass is incomplete... NO 12, SC 0 On Spencer's next possession, they throw a pick in North territory; North drives and gets a 26 yard FG from Luke Nolte. A Spencer punt is followed by a Austin Peterson 2 yard TD plunge. The PAT is blocked and it's 21-0. Spencer's last drive of the first half ends in a pick and North runs off the final half minute of the first half. First half: North - 6 possessions: 3 TDs, 1 FG, 1 punt, took a knee to end half Spencer - 5 possessions: 2 interceptions, 1 fumble, 1 punt, one turnover on downs after high snap on punt. Spencer finished with 5 turnovers, including three interceptions thrown by Morgan Brown and two fumbles lost by Cameron Smith. UNOFFICIAL stats: North Oldham (5-3, 1-1) 12 9 0 7 - 28 Spencer Co. (3-5, 0-2) 0 0 0 0 - 0 RUSHING: North Oldham - Link 17-106, Evans 12-74, Price 11-49, Crawley 2-18, Peterson 6-17, Streicher 1-5 total: 49 carries - 269 yards Spencer County Cameron Smith 90, Erico Smith 34, several others with 1 or 2 carries total: 40 carries - 166 yards PASSING: NOHS Peterson 0-3-1, SCHS Brown 2-3-3 13 yards First downs: North 17, Spencer 13 Turnovers: North 1, Spencer 5 About the only thing North did poorly was conversions; they had two PATs blocked and a two point conversion pass fell incomplete. Spencer County was held to about half their 3A-leading 329 yards rushing per game... North is now 5-3 and 1-1 in district play with a trip to Western Hills next week. The winner gets 2nd in the district and at least a first round playoff home game. Spencer loses its third straight, and falls to 3-5 and 0-2, with a game against Henry County remaining. The loss guarantees the Bears will finish as the #4 seed in the district and will likely have too play on the road against Central in the first round of the 3A playoffs.
ColonelMike Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 North was a different team this week. Focused and determined.
Knute Rockne Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Looked like a different team tonight. Boys were focused and ready to play. Good win on Senior night for the team. Defense looked really good holding Spencer's big play backs in check.
'ol#70 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Congrats Knute and the Stangs. Good turn around from a week ago. You can beat Hills running the football. Keep pressure on Curry, he does not throw it well on the run. Check #25 at the LOS and his favorite target is shut down. Wright is their ball carrier but he left the game late and didn't return. All for now.
