Trinity vs Boone Co.

What a surprise, you're talking about when Boone only scored 3 points on Trinity a few years back, I forgot you still have that same team. If you haven't paid any attention to Boone in the past couple years, then let me tell you that the 'power run' isn't the only thing they do anymore. Trinity has owned Boone in the past, and they very well could on Friday, but I don't really think you go into a playoff game expecting a blowout (see Dixie last year). You call me cocky for saying that the Rebels will compete in this game, that is extremely comical.

P.S. - Who's basketball season started earlier last year?

P.S.S. - I'm not going to get into stupid little arguments all week, if I'm an idiot for thinking the Rebels have a chance, then so be it. We must bring our A+ game though, if not, we will be in for a very long night. Good luck to both teams!

You tell us not to reference the past, but yet you bring up last season, time and time again. A little consistency, and please, this year's team is not last year's team. We are certainly more focused (as a team), and since none of us are playing, we don't really have a say or action that would effect the game. ;)

Point one. How would prefer in politically correct terms to state this? I believe that Trinity has defeated Boone in every game they have ever played. Including one where Boone was a double digit favorite. At some point a team can rightfully say that they "own" this team. I don't think you dispute the claim, just the words.

Counterpoint one: It's not about being politically correct. It's about how others perceive your remarks. No one disputes the record of the Trinity/Boone County match-up. But to claim that your team "owns" another is a dangerous assumption.

Point two. It has been my experience with NKY 4A football teams that they play a run oriented type of football. Some have stepped out of this mold but I think my assessment is correct for the most part. Dixie had a good QB in 02' named O'Toole who threw it pretty well but they were hardly "Air Dixie" spreading the field going five wide out of the gun. They mixed in enough passes to keep you honest and came as close as any NKY 4A team to upset the Rocks until last years squad. There have been many posters on here over the past few weeks from NKY that have said this same thing. If you feel I'm wrong please provide some info, it sure looked like Boone was a running offense against Ballard.

Counterpoint two: Now you're saying "4A." Your original post was not so specific. It would seem that your entire experience with NKY teams consists of watching Boone County and Dixie. I can assure you, there are quite a few more teams up here and some of them occasionally throw the ball from one player to another.

Point three. It is pretty sad if that is the claim to fame for the entire district. It shouldn't be. They have done more in the past than this one upset. Yet, from now on Trinity should beware of the teams from NKY or otherwise you might get whiped like you did in 04'. I don't recall any humility overload on the part of Highlands fans entering their title game rematch with Boyle last year. I was there and there was plenty of smack being thrown around. I guess they didn't get the memo. The fact is, Trinity played a bad game at the wrong time. Our QB tossed three int.s in the red zone. Dixie stepped up and won the game. I payed them proper respect at the time and still do to this day (ask Sandman32). However, I think its kind of "comical" to have Boone County fans post that comparative scores, history and records don't matter at this point but the fact that some other team in your district pulled an upset last season somehow does.

Counterpoint four. No, three…yeah, three: This is completely…It's just…oh I'm sorry! Point three is just way too long! I just don't feel up to counterpointing such a lengthy point. What's the point?

This question of the line between confidence and arrogance reminds me of a famous quotation. In giving his opinion on what constitutes pornography, Justice Potter Stewart once said, "I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be (pornographic) and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. But I know it when I see it." ;)

My bringing up last year is my childish way of responding to such remarks about how Trinity has owned them in the past. As I said earlier, I'm not going to get into that anymore. I think Boone must have their A+ game to have a chance, and lately in the playoffs, they've been bringing it.

One of the biggest problems I see for Boone in this game is their inability to "change it up" more often on offense. Three key skill players didn't play against Dixie, Arey - Was hurt vs Ballard I believe, Brison - Also hurt against the Bruins I belive, and Gieske - Who has been out since early in the year. I know for a fact that Arey won't play and I'm assuming Gieske won't either but I've heard the Brison's injury isn't as bad as first thought. Farris won't be able to carry the ball every play, so like in the Dixie game, we are going to have to find some rest time for him if we are going to move the ball against the Rocks.

One thing is for sure, the field will not be muddy. I predict a Trinity win in a major way. After watching 13 straight points scored early last Friday, the entire team and fans were awaken. If Boone runs the ball, Rocks D will stake the middle. The difference will be Boone's ability or inability to stop the pass, well maybe run, well lets just say the entire Rocks offense. Good luck Boone County and welcome to our new stadium.

Looking at the roster a couple of things stuck out. 70 players but only 13 seniors and 37 sophmores. Any reason why the team is so dominated by sophmores? I know Farris is no longer the QB, but does he play defense as well? He is listed as a DB.

Its good to see that Rocky Bleier is still in the game, geez he must be pretty old by now.

I believe he is a relative the the Steeler great, possibly a cousin or something.

Let me give you a tidbit on this one.

Trinity runs a spread offense, most everyone knows that, what most don't know is that we run/pass/screen almost to an equal amount. That works in our favor, in the passing game we are fairly equal in left, right, short, long , sideline, and middle passes. We make a very cogniscant effort to make our game as equally diverse as possible. That makes us hard to handle. now, why do I think that we will beat Boone?

Offensively (for Trintiy):

We run the stretch, a lot, that allows for Donald and Blayne to run DOWNHILL on the edge....Boone is certainly better on the interior of their defense. Passing wise, Boone has played some man, and even rolled their safeties up. if they choose to do that against us, you may reference the 2001 and 2002 Trinity -vs- Male tapes (roughly 900 yards passing, and about 11 TDs through the air). Now, I think that Boone will stay in their Cover-2 defense and allow for Kircher to catch some balls across the middle, while trying to not give up the deep ball. After a healthy dose of this, the defense generally can not help but to cheat up, with that a bubble screen to Orndorff and he is to the house, he'll likely be the fastest player on the field.

Defensively (for Trintiy):

Our passing D is certainly our strong suit, with that, we won't be as concerned with that, which, in turn will allow us to stunt much more often. Our defense has fixed a lot of the problems we faced against X and Manual (which I certainly feel posessed better backfields than Boone), besides we also had to respect their passing of the ball, Boone shows that we certainly don't have to be overly concerned with the pass. With our backers and ends stunting more, you will see a lot of your RBs get popped in the backfield. but like anything else, if you were to run the ball 40-50 times, you are bound to make some plays.

Special Teams (for Trinity):

I know nothing of Boone's, but ours is VERY TOP NOTCH.....

Coaching (for Trinity):

I would go with Beatty over Thompson....

Thanks, RP. :thumb: :thumb:
