rockmom
Dang! That's one awe-inspiring high school stadium! I still love Marshall Stadium, though.
rockmom
I do think it's important, and impressive, to note that they're dedicating nearly the same amount of money to a performing arts auditorium. Can any of you imagine the uproar in any community in KY if such a bond proposal were put on the table?
rockmom
And to think people say bigger isn't always better in terms of the size of school. Glad to see that Texas, along with schools in Georgia, Alabama, FL, etc don't freak out once a school gets to be around 2,000+ kids, then split the schools. All I can do is shake my head at the way some things are done here in KY. I'd have to see what the statistics are for their academic, ACT/SAT scores and % to college...but as a broad overall statement, I heartily agree with you. A lot of valuable, limited resources are stretched even thinner in Kentucky with the current requirements.
Big K 61
Must be big concession stands! You mean the band doesn't run them?
Harry Doyle
I'd have to see what the statistics are for their academic, ACT/SAT scores and % to college...but as a broad overall statement, I heartily agree with you. A lot of valuable, limited resources are stretched even thinner in Kentucky with the current requirements. I'd be willing to bet that their academic scores are up their pretty high, as well? I'd say the type of kids that go there are what it would be like if Highlands, Manual, Male, X, T, etc. all went to school together.
Walter
Altogether, voters approved a $119.4 million bond proposal for a new auditorium, new multipurpose stadium and a new service center for maintenance, student nutrition and transportation. Walter
Even their parking lot is impressive! I was thinking the same thing. They're going to have a nicer facility than most college programs at the small D1, D2 and D3 levels.

SportsGuy41017
Nice, but I like a lot more of their stadiums better than this one. http://www.texasbob.com/stadium/
The Scribe
The tax structure is a lot different in Texas. Stadiums and projects like this is why home rule government is popular there.
Voice of Reason
Off the website above, 11 stadiums in Texas with 16,500 or greater seating. Also, it looks like many of those stadiums are for more than one high school. The largest stadium listed 8 teams as home teams.
