Halloween (one of my favorite holidays) is right around the corner and I'm pretty pumped. AOL & Moviefone made a list of the 31 best horror movies, what do you think, what did they miss/get wrong etc.?

It's a good list.

 

I noticed there were no sequals on the list, which is plenty fair, but for my money Halloween IV scared me more than some on mentioned.

 

Also, anyone want to give any love at all to Salem's Lot? Not the recent TBS remake, but the original. I thought it was really good.

I haven't seen some of them. But I would leave off Blair Witch. And is Scream really a horror picture?

I like the list, especially your number one pick. You have flicks from all generations.

 

Perhaps I am showing my age, however as a kid I loved the original Frankenstein, Wolfman, The Mummy, and the original version of House on Haunted Hill. I would put those in place of a few of them.

BTW, I can't believe that's the photo of Michael Myers they used. Looks like it's from Halloween 6, or AKA "Movie that does't exist to DragonFire". Halloween 3-5 are on that list as well....

The Exorcist would be my #1. Movies that didn't make the list that I would consider:

 

"Black Sabbath"

"The Grudge"

"The Birds"

"Hostel"

The orignial Texas Chainsaw Massacre was one of the worst movies ever made. Not even close to top 200 much less 5th.

 

I agree with 2c that The Howling should have made it.

 

I agree with Dragon that Childern of the Corn should have been there. I would put it top 10.

 

I thought Scream was pretty scary the first time I saw it.

 

Evil Dead 2 was more funny then scray.

 

And with Go Cats that Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween should be there. I really liked the remake and actually thought it was a better story then the original.

This is true. And Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 was one of the funniest horror movies ever made.
