Nicest and Rudest Celebrities

Run To State

Recommended Posts

Stole the idea from McConnell’s talk show today.

Who is nicest celebrity you’ve ever met and who was the absolute rudest?

Nicest for me is a tie between Bob Lilly of the Cowboys and Cris Collingsworth, maybe a slight edge to Lilly. Second place would be Ted Nugent.

Rudest is tough because I haven’t met a lot of celebrities and most of them have been pretty nice, but I’d have to say Tommy Shaw, a bit self absorbed if you know what I mean.

How about the rest of you?

Big surprise.

Here are five central themes from his HORRIBLY written book:(Guns,God,& Rock and Roll)

1) What a perfect, smart, wonderful, well-read, God-loving, patriotic, WHITE, husband, father, musician, celebrity, and human being Ted Nugent is.

2) Only sub-human morons would allow drugs or alcohol to jeopardize their ability to instantly get into the attack stance to shoot it out for their lives at any moment.

3) Only sub-human Marxists, Socialists, and wimps, would ever go out of the house without one fully loaded gun.

4) All problems stem from those geographical urban areas that he calls "Planet of the Apes."

5) You should immediately purchase Ted Nugent's newsletter for your children.

He's a waste of human flesh. More on Nugent later...

I've never really had a conversation with a celebrity. I've met Osi Umenyiora long enough to get his autograph, but he was listening to a MP3 player while warming up for a game, so I'm pretty sure he was not listening to anything I said.

I met Steve Zahn (Saving Silverman, Joy Ride, Daddy Day Care) in Lexington last summer but did not really converse with him either. I asked him how he was doing and he said "good, thanks". I was at work at the time, and he was a customer. I did not want to bother him.

Also met Tony Delk, Kenny Walker and a few other basketball players.

Tubby Smith - nicest

Johnny Bench - biggest jerk

I never spoke to Smith, but from all I have heard, he is a very nice man.

I did converse with Bench for a few minutes at a 5/3 Bank get-to-together. While he signed an autograph and talked a little baseball with me, I did not feel he really wanted to be there. Had an air of arrogance about him.

Bench - complete, total, unequivocal, undeniable, self-absorbed, pretentious, arrogant jerk. And that's his good side.

Rick Springfield - been to a number of his concerts and met him backstage several times. Pretty cool dude and very friendly.

I think we sorta covered this in brushes with greatness or people we have met, so I'm hoping I'm not repeating anything here.

Went to Dallas in March for a movie convention and got to meet a lot of Elm Street celebs, all of them were nice, but I have a great story about John Saxon. I know him from the Elm Street films and also for Enter the Dragon of course.

This didn't happen to me, but a friend of mine went over to get an autograph and I guess there was a kid in front of him talking to John Saxon. As my friend tells the story, this is how the conversation went with this kid and John. I say kid, this guy was probably in his early, mid 20's.

Kid: Can I get a photo with you?

JS: Did you buy anything from my table?

Kid: No, I was just hoping I could get a quick picture with you

JS: If I did that for everyone in here, I would be a *Word Filter* mannequin.

John Saxon was nice to me, but it's no secret he can be "kinda" stern at times.

As for the nicest, it was probably David Hess who was one of the stars of Last House on the Left. Met him at a convention in 2003, spent 20 minutes or so just talking to him, just a great guy. A close 2nd has to be Hanna Hall whom I also met in Dallas. She was just a wonderful person to talk to.

Those that don't know Hanna played young Jenny in Forrest Gump, was in Virgin Suicides and most recently in the Rob Zombie Halloween remake.

Bench was a hero when I was growing up. It pains me to hear what a jerk he is.

I met Bart Star in a little dive in Florida. He spent about 15 minutes with his wife talking to me and my family. Got an awesome picture with my dad, little boy (1), Bart + me. My wife spilled a coke in my lap! He was flat out one of the nicest guys I have ever met and gave us his undivided attention. I really can't say enough good things about him.

Suprisingly Dick Vital was REALLY nice when I met him. Once again he gave us about 15 minutes before a KY/Maryland game (Steve Francis era). He was down to Earth, passionate, compassionate etc. He spoke like a real person until he started walking off then got in game mode. I was suprised how good of a guy he was.

I've met tons of college football coaches. There is a mix but most are good men. Some funny and some hardcore. That's all I can think of right off other than some athletes.

Not surprised about Vitale. Seems pretty darn genuine and a very caring guy.
