Jumper_Dad
So Urban was fine letting Smith go the 1st time and the 3rd time but not the 2nd? 1st time...Had it even been established he was fired then. He was a GA and got an assistant job elsewhere...normal job path. 2nd time...no action taken 3rd time...it was about to blow up in his face with the report coming out, so he finally decided to cut him loose. I'm just saying I understand how hard it would be for him to fire him.
GrantNKY
Yes, which is civil. Thus the burden of proof in court if Meyer tried to file a wrongful termination lawsuit (which is still civil) is preponderance of the evidence. It’s really not as complicated as you’re trying to make it. Does this situation include preponderance of the evidence?

If Meyer didn't fire him it was definitely implied that he no longer had a place on Meyer's staff. 3rd time, Brett McMurphy went digging after Smith was fired so he wasn't under the pressure of this report coming out. 00Rocket28
Does this situation include preponderance of the evidence? If we’re having the same discussion, which is whether tOSU could have enough to can him, then yes. If you’re for some reason thinking anyone is saying UM should face criminal charges then obviously not. What exactly are you even trying to dispute or do you even know? Or is just blindly defending your team and not even sure what you’re defendjn them from?

John Anthony
Once again, you’re assuming every cop that talked to them was familiar with the couples history and that the victim told the cops the truth and they did nothing. You don’t know that there were no reports completed, or if the prosecutors declined to prosecute. You obviously have a distorted view of what cops can actually do. There's a report from January 5, 2016 in which Courtney Smith was given a speeding warning. Smith shared that she was having domestic issues with her ex-husband that day, and that the City of Powell was aware of it. The report adds that she was crying and visibly upset. Just so we’re clear, you want Meyer fired for what we think he knew but are certain the city officials knew about and did nothing?
GrantNKY
It will be out everywhere, but the James O'Keefe video is 100% at UF and involves 3 things: 1) Meyer throwing Gatorade bottles around the room to pump them up pregame 2) A really intense max out day where a player blew his quad out doing squats 3) The players would wrestle sometimes for conditioning. Well that's even worse if you believe he was fired for DV at Florida then Urban hired him again. No way you can hire someone you previously fired for DV at your old job when you get to.a new job. GrantNKY
Given it's a normal job progression and that Meyer hired him later, I think that assumption is a stretch. It's not a stretch if you look at it from the perspective that he knew about the incident in 2009, which he did because he knew told us. Normal job progression or get the hell out. Either way Meyer didn't offer him a position at UF.

LIPTON BASH
I agree, but like GT said before. Either he throws his wife under the bus and she gets fired from her job or he blatantly lied. If it's a good relationship it's a no brainer. He makes a lot more money.

Just so we’re clear, you want Meyer fired for what we think he knew but are certain the city officials knew about and did nothing? It’s not illegal to argue with your wife and to make her upset. You can not arrest someone based on someone being upset and the words “domestic dispute”. The sooner you understand this, the better off you’ll be. If she said “my husband assaulted/hit/kicked/choked/slapped etc” and the cop did nothing, you’d have a leg to stand on. At this point, you don’t. And yes he should be fired.
