Anything could happen in the Highlands, Rockmom. There could be young professionals ordering tapas at the LouVino wine bar. There could be teenagers congregating outside the Graeters. My goodness there could even be hipsters swilling PBR at The Hideaway.

IT'S A REAL HELLSCAPE OUT THERE AT BARDSTOWN ROAD AND EASTERN PARKWAY, ROCKMOM.

Georgetown, Frankfort, Versailles and Somerset? Man if those are some of the most violent places to live in KY, then we truly are blessed. I have lived and work in Frankfort, live right down the road from Versailles. I have to say, calling these places "violent" would be like calling Milli/Vanilli "gangster rap". I'd have no problem at all living in any of those four communities.

Ah, yes. The mean streets of Georgetown.

I hear ya! My early morning walks back in the day, when I would have to constantly dodge those thuggish joggers and runners, and Birkenstock wearing aged hippies...I don't know how I survived!

And, technically, Louisville is 2 of the 10 on that list. Shively is in Louisville Metro. :D I know, I know...it's like J-Town..but it's all folded in together. And when I think of Frankfort, Versailles, and Georgetown, I think of them as "Lexington Metro", although I realize they're not. :lol2:

Did I miss where Covington was on the list???

Covington has a few dangerous neighborhoods but always felt the suburban people of NKY thought it was way more dangerous than it really was. South Covington , Monte Casino , Wallace Woods , Peaselburg, Austinburg and Latonia are all fine places to live.

West Covington , Latonia Terrace , City Heights and Jacob Price not so much.

Covington has some strange city limits.

Way back in the day my son was some kind of "Kentucky academic ambassador" in high school. Had to go to a library with a Covington address to so some presentation.

Seems like we drove for miles and miles away from the river to get there.

Not surprised with Newport in the top ten, but I find it hard to believe Covington isn't ranked higher in crime then Newport. Lived around here all my life, always felt Newport was safer than Covington, unless you want to go back to the "sin city" days.

Not sure of the stats but my dad used to be a regular gambling visitor in the late 40's to mid 50's. He said he always felt safe.

My dad was a fireman, knew a lot of the guys in organized crime. Most of the violent stuff that went on were people that got beat up for griping about losing money, the really violent crimes were committed against those stupid enough to cross the gangsters. That being said, with the prostitution and illegal gambling that went on, crime was very high.
