  1. Oldham walks away with this one. I hear Shelby was missing a few last week interested to see the entire package.
  2. I don't see this LCA team making it back. The old 1A powerhouses should be back in the saddle again. Beechwood and Mayfield!
  3. Congratulations to Highlands and Coach Sphire. Looks like they landed on their feet! If he can do what we did at Lex Cath they should be in state finals in the next few years.
  4. Highlands is a top 5 -10 football program in the state! The people in this thread who feel that the expectation at schools like this are too much are the reason Kentucky HS football is behind in many categories. The Trinity’s, Male, Boyle, Highlands, Beechwood, Belfry and few others. Have an expectation and I hope they keep it up! There is a reason Beatty won 15 titles in 21 years and why there are only 3 teams to dethrone him. Honestly if you don’t think that this is happening in any of the major football states of the country you’re wrong. I remember my time in Texas and leaving early for work and seeing middle school practice taking place at 6am showed how serious they are. Maybe one day we can be considered as a serious football state above basketball. I hope highlands finds someone who gets that back and going! Those expectations and that pressure is the same people who provide support and push kids to the next level! Good Luck to all parties involved!
  5. I think they may have forgotten the cannons going off the last time these two played!
  6. Congratulations to Coach Beatty and the T! I went back and looked at it and only 3 Teams were able to snatch the 6 other titles he didn’t win. Male, X, Scott County. That’s impressive! One thing that I see that’s not taken into account here is public versus private retirements when we post these list. So given that into consideration here would be my personal short list for this job. This means these are the people I would target. Brian Brohm Chuck Smith Sam Adams Stephon Lefors Everyone else would be national for me!
  7. Only Speculation at this point and lots of riddles! But if Leaf Eddieson is the coach they will need to stock up on Viking Ammo! Cannons will be ringing a lot!
  8. They still have that old cannon up north?
  9. Both boards voted to ban travel. Nothing shady about the exchange.
  10. I think there is a larger factor than the two points. When the districts realigned I as well as many others questioned if the team from Frankfort could go to Central and Win and they did. 2 or 200 to go on the road and win the district was a big deal. Now add in a young kid who has taken only a half of a game in meaningful snaps and throw him in to the starting role vs the defending state champions. He was up 7-6 at half and that was impressive. Then 3 huge turnovers after the half. Would Broyles finish these drives is the question that comes into play? We will never know but Mattison played one heck of a game going from playing one side of the ball to playing a full two sided game mental and physical. I think the thing that hurt Franklin was the tempo slowed down after the first score. The fast tempo allowed them to stay ahead of central's defense and not allow them to get adjusted. Those factors and add in the turnovers and central going to the power game were the things that prevented a win with the personnel that played. I think Broyles finishes a couple of those drives in the redzone and it changes the game.
  11. This Jackets team has taken a different shape over the last 3 weeks! Hats off to Coach Eddie James and the flyers on a great run!
  12. The first game was played on a grass field that was not in the best condition. They are moving to turf, along with the athletic ability of Mattison. I don't know if you watched last week but the kid is quicker and has more speed than Broyles giving the system of offense the spark they may need. Just because he is young and you have not seen the young man doesn't mean hes not talented. He is about 6'3 and plays OLB for FC and is not afraid of contact. Central will have not seen the offense with him at the command and I expect that to present issues. Anyone in this thread from the FC side can tell you there is no favoritism in their direction from me, BUT this is by far the most hard nosed and talent loaded team I have seen in some time at the school on the hill. Coach James and crew have done a great job in preparing this year.
  13. The location being changed plays a factor in the home town presence IMO. I have watched both teams and I will say this may be the game of the year in 4A. A couple of game notes for both teams: Central- - Central played like the defending state champions last week versus a Shelby team that played them close earlier in District Play. -Offensive play calling has changed significantly as they lined up and said we are going to bring our big boys in and pound the rock. -Defensively they will be challenged this week vs this high scoring spread offense. Franklin- - Starting QB Nick Broyles was injured last week with a dislocated elbow. While backup QB Jayden Mattison came in and finished the job vs Waggener, how will this young man respond in the spotlight vs the Central D. - FC held Central to only 12 pts and some would say only 6. I expect it to be the same way and with this moved to the turf it should be an interesting affair. FC-21 Central- 16
  14. Does anybody know if this game can be rematched?
  15. Decent run down to the FC 16. Tack a Facemask on. 1st Down WC.
