  • Anyone else believe this will be the most exciting class to watch when round 3 hits? A lot of heavy hitters in this class.

  • Park Hills is lovely that time of year. ?️

Bump.

While the out of state competition hurts Boyle County I tend to agree with BEC. The more the season progresses the better the RPI works itself out.

Corbin and Boyle for all the marbles.

I’m beginning to think that game is coming sooner than later.  Really confused about a 2-2 team with a 42-0 loss having more points than Boyle.

The difference between North Oldham and Boyle Co. is, at this point is only 0.04179. Sneeze, and that difference changes by next Saturday. Cov Cath, the current 4A RPI #1 is 5-0, beat a now 4-1, 2A Beechwood and dropped 0.05238 from Tuesday's first RPI numbers. Even if Cov Cath wins out at 10-0, their RPI is going to get chipped away by their opponents "numbers."

Disclaimer: None of the following is news.

The Rebels have gotten dinged for playing an out of state opponent. None of the four teams currently above them have played OoS. Of the top four, all have played in simple numbers* (regardless of Ws and Ls) better KY Class Value multipliers than Boyle.

North Oldham, 2-2 *(+5 ~ simple play up/down net KY class value)

Cov Cath, 5-0 *(+4)

Franklin Co., 4-0 *(+3)

Paducah Tilghman, 5-0 *(+3)

Boyle Co., 5-0 *(-3)

Ideally Boyle could find an above average Louisville 6A team to schedule, like NO did with Fern Creek and drop the Out of State game. Do whatever it takes to prepare a team for the postseason, sure. Gibson Southern was a good choice on that level. I suppose the rivalry game with Danville is still a must, but they're trending way down and a win there is kind of a wash with class value. District schedule - is what it is.

Bright lights at the end of the RPI tunnel? 1. Easy wins over the next five weeks to get backups reps for long term program growth 2. A season ender at 6A Douglass. A win there, even against a possible four loss team sets the Rebels up nicely in the hunt for the golden ball.

Lastly, we've got to get out of the mindset that a W/L points margin has anything to do with RPI.

As a Cov Cath fan, I really like Boyle's team and chances this year - respect.

That Gibson Southern game was supposed to be South Warren but they pulled out.  Boyle scheduled right but had the rug pulled from beneath them.  Nothing they could do about the replacement team being from out of state.

Thanks for the background; I missed that detail. Shame about South Warren, that would have been a great game. SW took their own hit on RPI playing GS a few weeks later.

* To all, re: the "simple numbers Class Value" I mentioned in a previous post - that really makes it easy for me to understand all the moving pieces. There's a real alphabet soup in the RPI formula: WP, OWP, OOWP, CV, OoS ... It shouldn't be that hard I think, but here we are.
