Devils Emerge From Month Long Slumber To Meet An Old Foe

Records: O'boro (5-3) | MNH (6-2)

BGP Rankings: O'boro (#6 in 5A)

Week 9 Results: Both had a bye week

Series History: O'boro leads 55-14-4 all-time; 25-11 since Madisonville became MNH in 1968

Teaser Preview: Owensboro crushed three overmatched opponents by a combined score of 173-27 before taking last week off. Madisonville-North Hopkins hopes to catch the Devils sleepy eyed. Anything less than Owensboro's best could spell doom for the visitors in Madisonville.

The Maroons are capable and have a potentially explosive offense that's hung 50+ four times this year. Dual threat quarterback Kanyon Johnson will lead the attempted exorcism. He's thrown and run for over 2,300 yards and 27 touchdowns. Second leading rusher Markezz Hightower is approaching a thousand yards, himself.

Sophomore Evan Hampton is already fulfilling the promise we saw flashes of last year, serving as Owensboro's most dynamic offensive playmaker. Trevor Delacey has a quartet of primary pass catchers to distribute the ball to, consisting of Hampton, Chadyn Morris, Blake Kimbrell,  and Dereon Crowe.

The common opponents suggest a competitive game and likely shootout with the Red Devils entering as road favorites.

Thanks for the correction. Approximately 7 out of every 5 people surveyed agreed that math is hard.

@DevilMayCare I just counted.  You may actually be right!  I didn’t see that info in your post- so no correction intended!

The Devils should win this game comfortably, if they want to be considered a contender in 5A. Delacey has been performing well at QB showing consistency and poise in the pocket, with 8 or more RedDevils having receptions. The Hampton/Crowe or Hampton/Winstead combo at RB behind that offensive line for 48min is enough to wear down most defenses. If that continues the Devils should route the Maroons. Just too many weapons for the Maroons to stop or keep pace with. The Devils defense has made some shifts and seen some progress. If they can’t hold Madisonville to less than 21 there season will be ending early this year.

Madisonville usually plays the Red Devils tough at home. 28-21 Owensboro.

Madisonville has some nice pieces and this game is at home on grass something Owensboro doesn't seem to like to play on.  I will take Owensboro by 2-3 TDS but if they don't come out ready to go Madisonville can make this interesting.  Madisonville is very unpredictable on which team shows up.

Madisonville has no real Weakness, they are a solid team, with lots of good pieces. Should be a good game.

Looks like we better watch out. ?

They do have a mobile QB and the Devils have struggled with mobile QBs this season. If the Maroons can sustain long drives this could be close on the score board.

I thought we both agreed we weren't going to make any more predictions.

? I shouldn’t be the way it’s been going for me this season. Hopefully my predictions can get on track starting this week.
