Trinity/Highlands Scrimmage
I will stick with the what is to be taken from this scrimmage. I know most fans want to know who is the better team, but the coaching staffs have another agenda in mind. I said this last year and I will say it again. Watch the substitution patterns of both teams and you will see the real purpose of the scrimmage. Getting guys reps and getting them in certain situations, and repping plays regardless of situations. It would be a lot easier to play this more like a game if the teams had two scrimmages, but neither does. Therefore they are left to answer certain questions for the season in this scrimmage. Again, watch the subs. Last year I saw Highlands use nine d lineman, eight linebackers, and eight different db's. Using the line as an example; three down lineman and nine used means that some of those guys are third string by definition. I know we all want to know the score as fans, but I assure you that coaches Beatty and Mueller have another agenda.

Covington Catholic/ Ryle Scrimmage (Frosh)
Are the Ryle players who played up from 8th grade last year competing as frosh this year, or will they continue to play up to varsity/ jv?

Highlands Freshman Football 2012
It's not really that hard. "son, when we practice how many guys are there at your position? How many are ahead of you on the depth chart? How many guys are over there at guard ? I feel like if you were at guard you would compete for a starting position today. Don't you? I really feel like if you were to be one of our starting guards it could really take our offense up a notch and we would be a better team." Most kids are looking to get on the field. An offer from the coach to move closer to that goal is generally well received. .........when they get home and dad finds out.....

Top 40 Players to Watch in Class of 2014 Greater Cincinnati
200 posts in you do not get a pass on a comment that you knew would strike at the very sensitive underbelly that is the residency issue. So to be clear, all of the players on HHS roster did not grow up in The Fort. Some have moved there prior to high school, a couple are among the many tuition students that the district has drawn from outside it's defined boundary. The 41075 zip code does not define the limits of the city nor that of the school district. If every student who resides in the 41075 zip code Or the city's defined boundary, attended HHS they would be even more successfull year in and year out than they have been in the past.

Simon Kenton 2012
I will go ahead and start the prediction part of the SK season. In scrimmage with X they will score one point for every two points that X scores. SK will lose at least two district games. SK will lose, against what is universally acknowledged as a weak schedule, at least four games. One of these losses will occur in the first round of the playoffs. On the bright side this is another playoff season for SK.

Colin Justice from Dixie to Beechwood?
All of that said, when the rules are written, the family follows the rules that are in place, then you have a valid transfer. Maybe these rules, or any set of rules, can't prevent someone hell bent on a transfer from doing so. Is that all so bad?

Conner QB Receives Invitation to Elite 11
An evaluator of talent never takes listed height and weight as gospel. First thing I do is get eyeball to eyeball while shaking hands to see if I am looking up or down. I have looked down on a lot of supposed 6'4" guys over the years and I am not that tall. Yes you are correct, talent evaluators are feeling out coaches to see if they are blowing smoke and if they actually know what talent equates to what level of football at the next level. An inch in height is not going to turn recruiters off on a coach's evaluation. In fact they come to expect some size inflation. As to the height necessary to be a D1 level qb, there are few that are going to turn their nose up to a legit 6'3".

Top NKY Quarterbacks for 2012
Dixie was some of the talk last year and a refresher of those post would tell you that most people questioned Dixie's future w/ said qb. There was also talk of some others who turned out to have some level of success. One of them even won a couple of awards. This years crop of qb's in NKY may not yield two high level signings, the overall talent is on par with some of the areas best.

Impact Players for Highlands over last 20 years
Nice additions to the list, but that is just a scratch of the surface. I dare not attempt. For too many worthy names would be left off.

Highlands Freshman Football 2012
Good thing you didn't go. Those soft kids were at it long before you got yourself motivated. Fresh were on the field at about 7:45 this morning. Just a little part of building toughness. If you want to play there you are going to have to sacrafice some other things. Sleeping in like many of your peers is just one of those sacrafices. There will be many more to come. Tdy have you seen them try to practice in the valley with the softball setup in place. Why is that still there. I have not seen it used once since the season ended.

High School Hoops in June
Then there is your answer to the big question "what's wrong w/ Highlands BBall." 6'5" 240 that works year round on hoops w/ Nick's skill set might result in all region type career and little prospects beyond. Same skill set in football and opportunity abounds. Lets face it. Unless Nick grows 4 inches he does not play D-1 BBall. In football he is a D-1 prospect before he is able to drive a car. Kid has to make a decision about how to spend his summer.

High School Hoops in June
The answer on True should be obvious. At 6'5" or 6" and a 240 playing the five, True goes into his jr year of basketball looking to get some experince so that he can contribute on varsity, but with limitations on his future in high school and not much future beyond. In football with those numbers going into his jr season he has recruiters calling and gets a stack of mail each week from some pretty big schools. So as to the question of just what he has been doing on the weekends, it is my understanding that he has accepted invitations to participate in camps at various major schools. I understand the folks at Penn State liked Mr.True very much. I know what I would do with my summer.

Eric Deters says Simon Coach Jeff Marskberry should be out...
With eric suspended from his chosen profession, fired from his second job, i guess he is looking for a new gig. The MMA fighting definetly was not his calling. So how about coaching high school football. What are his qualifications? Hopefully he has a better coaching record than he has a court record. Let's see, he runs his mouth on the radio and gets fired. He runs his mouth outside the courtroom, goes inside and takes a beating. Ditto for the MMA cage. How does a guy who has preformed so poorly at the things that he does make critisism of someone who has actually experienced relative success at what he does?

Any news regarding Dixie 2012 coaches?
You heard correctly. A very good pick up for the Dixie program.

Eric Deters says Simon Coach Jeff Marskberry should be out...
Not Crazy at all History, and in fact my and your assesment of where the SK program was, is currently, and is going, is not far off. I bristle only at your constant beating over the head of other programs with the almighty Trinity. It's an SK thread. Just let it be that. SK is not Trinity and likely will not ever be. You may well have seen more SK than I. For the record, in the last twenty years I have seen SK in person 12 times and on film 12 to 14 more times.

"Coaching (Simon Kenton) cost them a state championship Miles’ senior year"
Deters vs. Marksberry in a cage for an MMA style fight. Deters wins Marksberry steps down. Marksberry wins and Deters i goes off the air for life. Deters has the next 60 days to train while he is suspended by the Kentucky Bar Association, from practicing law. My money is on Marksberry as Deters suffers another first round KO like he did when the Police Officer put a beat down on him a couple of years ago.

Eric Deters says Simon Coach Jeff Marskberry should be out...
Folks, here comes History hijacking a thread to tell us how great Trinity is. Funny thing is that he will tell you he is a disintrested outsider who just happens to recognize the greatness of Trinity. Truth is he is a Trinity fan through and through who sees nothing but Trinity and knows nothing but Trinity. History, there are plenty of Trinity threads, Go to one of them and leave the SK folks and those who know something of the program to work this one out.

Notre Dame 13 Highlands 8
You have to be kidding me! This is a non issue. The coach came up w/ a gameplan and the girls on her team executed the majority of the plan to perfection. Had they shot the ball just a little better she would be lauded for her genious. Dean Smith came up w/ the four corners and was headed to the hall of fame for it and his teams' execution of it even when he wasn't winning championships. In nearly every sport, and at the highest levels, teams use tactics to change the pace of the game to their teams favor. How is that different than this? Is a team that tries to score on fast breaks and presses on D full court to create turnovers and break aways circumventing the rules? Are the fans at such games being cheated for not seeing half court sets and all variety of zone defenses? She tried to win the best way she knew how and it nearly worked. Fun to watch? No! Effective YES! Hope the folks over on the football board don't find out that playing 'smashmouth football' and not slinging the ball all around is somehow cheating the game and the fans.

Campbell County 46 Bishop Brossart 40
Having the benefit of no affiliation and no dog in the fight, and more importantly having seen the game a day later on film sitting in the quiet of my living room i feel qualified to wiegh in from a nutural standpoint. The refs let these teams play for the most part. It was a physical game and that was to BB's benefit as the much bigger team. Yes there were more fouls called on them and they earned them. The block at the end may have had some contact but it is not discernable on film. CC coach knew BB was out of timeouts and went nuts on the bech before the ref even signaled. Not certain but it looks like the ref might have tried to wave BB coach off as he was trying to call the TO. CC won the game because of excellent D and shutting down the big kid from BB.

Goose Cohorn Commits
The answer is 20. Exactly 20 kids signed with D-1 schools from the state of Kentucky. This number is the same or slightly greater than a typical year. Some folks never get it and claim every player who scores a few touchdowns or gets a couple of letters is a D-1 guy. It is OK to be a great high school player in Ky and move on to a D-3 school and continue to enjoy the game.

Thoughts on the 2011 All-BGP football team?
So who belongs on the list that is from Lex. or EKY. I can think of alot of good players, but I can't make an argument for them over the player selected. Use Bolin as an example. He is a great player, had a great season, great stats to support consideration, several D1 offers, and has verballed to Louisville. But this year he has a player playing the same position who had a better year. Won more games, a state title, ungodly stats (1 int.) D1 and verbal to Ky. Don't hide behind the 'we get no respect' thing. It's not like EKY was ignored. There are seven guys that made the list. Who belongs? Who do they replace?

Who will be the next Coach at Dixie?
I have found Mr. Brilz to be very opinionated, about football and everything else.
-
Campbell County's offseason
I have heard numbers are up and expectations from the coach are up as well. No doubt the combination of these two things will show results on the field this year. It will be real exciting to see what this program looks like in year three when all of the kids have been working like this for multiple years.

Highlands Offseason Football Thread
Dale will get the ball into the hands of his best weapons regardless of their position. Had a guy a few years back that played tight end and they seemed to find a way to get him the ball. I think his name was Smith. All-American or something like that playing TE for Highlands???? If True earns the ball he will get the ball.
