Campbell County's offseason

Featured Replies

I was kind of curious if any Campbell fans have heard anything about what the team is doing to prepare for next season.

Last night, I was out with a friend pretty close to the program and he said that he heard they had nearly 40 freshmen coming out to lift weights and do other things to prepare, which many of have not played. If this is true, it sounds like good news for the Camels. Personally, I thought that Coach Lickert would be capable of drawing more students out to play than had been prior to him getting there.

If anyone knows more about this or other things that may be going on, I would be interested in knowing.

I would say there is an average of about 60 kids coming out everyday. They are lifting 4 days a week and getting after it! Some of these players will be playing baseball in the spring then come to football after baseball season but the good thing is they are lifting within his program.

I have heard numbers are up and expectations from the coach are up as well. No doubt the combination of these two things will show results on the field this year. It will be real exciting to see what this program looks like in year three when all of the kids have been working like this for multiple years.

If people (kids & parents) BUY into this program they will be successful! The question is, will they? I have been in the area for almost 8 years and the one thing I have noticed about the Campbell County faithful is they talk a lot about change but when it really happens they do not like it! It is quite frustrating.

I agree, the guy that I was out with that I mentioned to start the thread says the same exact thing as well as a few others that I know.

I believe they will, they have something to believe in which makes for a easier sale. I see the most hope for the program that I've seen in many years. No cheap shots at the prior coaching staffs, just seems to be a much better defined goals and the staff to achieve them. I'm excited about Camel Football.

By the sheer fact that a Campbell County offseason football thread exists shows that things are moving in the right direction. I'm very excited about the future of the Camels.

I can only speak for my son but I've never seen him this excited about football this early in the year. Coach and his staff are laying the foundation of a solid program.

I'm already, ready for football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
