Here is the entire rant:

I love the Pioneers. But come on, when will they wake up (Kenton County Schools) and make head football and head basketball coach changes. I can speak out now because I no longer have children there.

The stories I can share. Last night, the boys were up 43-24 going into fourth quarter and lost. That’s coaching. They should have won the 8th Region. Now? 5th straight year out in the first round.

Trent Steiner and his program is not player/parent friendly. The best group of athletes in the history of the school was in my son’s class. Summit View and Twenhofel basketball and football players coming together to play. By the end of the freshman year, half of the starters from the two feeder schools quit. By senior year, ONE player remained. Why? Trent Steiner. Talent did not want to play for him.

Football? Miles Simpson and Chad Laurence led teams and won despite the coaching. Coaching cost them a state championship Miles’ senior year and a state semi-finals appearance at least, Chad’s senior year.

Guess what both of these coaches do? They beat down players. They don’t lift up players. They beat them down. They do not inspire. Simon Kenton had talent this year. Just not the talent the three prior years. What happened?

Players do not go to Simon Kenton because of these two coaches. There is a race issue too. Yes. I said it.

There have been black basketball and football players who have been shafted big time.

I can and will defend these remarks.

I’ll do the Pioneer community a favor since my children aren’t there anymore. I’ll beat the drums for change!

They kill spirit. They kill alumni participation. They do not build programs.

It’s time for wholesale changes in the boy’s basketball and football programs. They have already blown an incredible opportunity.

I plan on providing detailed facts and stories to follow.

Best way for SK to deal with Eric is to totally ignore him. He's one of the type that enjoy being involved in controversy. Ignore him and he gets frustrated/bored and moves on to something else.

I can't even believe Deters threw up the race card.

Reminder; Jeff Marksberry won the 2008 Marvin Lewis Coach of the Year Award...it isn't just based on winning, I copied the info from the Marvin Lewis Foundation website:

The Marvin Lewis Coach of the Year Award presented by Baker Concrete is awarded to the top high school football coach in the Tri-State area. Over 200 area schools may nominate their coach for this award. The winner is chosen based on their teaching skills, sportsmanship, dedication to players, and commitment to education and his community. The award is handed out by Coach Lewis at the annual Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar-Athletes Banquet.

Enough said.

Congrats to him on winning this award, however Im sure that the committee who selected him didn't ask his former players how dedicated they thought he was to them. Im just saying. Ive only been to one SK game in my life, I don't plan on going to any in the near future, thus I dont have any 1st hand info to talk about. However, hearing many of his former players not speak highly of him speaks volumes to me. Markesberry had loads of talent and those teams shouldve been successful. He wasn't successful enough with that much talent, imo, and he will not get alot of credit from me

In Football, the best kids play. Period. In public schools it is often the case that 5,6 or more kids play on both sides of the ball. In this state, public schools are required to compete with private schools for state championships. That means getting the most out of what you have. That means you only have December and the dead period off (Well, you are expected to condition unsupervised during the dead period , so do you really have it off?). That's 10 1/2 months of Football a year. That is an enormous commitment for everyone involved. There is often a lot of discontent among those that do not see the varsity playing field.

I agree with everything you said. You are 100% correct. Many people forget to realize that too. However, some of the players that I was referring to were 2 and 3 year starters. I don't know Markesberry from a hole in the ground. Im just relaying info. I cant defend much of what Deters has claimed, but I do agree that as much talent as SK had for a few years, they shouldve won a title in one of those years

I am not going to enter this fray except to say this, and that is that SK combined with Ryle and Boone wouldn't have won a state title in any of the glory years gone by...

That's the most narrow-minded, craziest thing Ive ever heard. However, you are entitled to your opinion. I do not support any of the mentioned teams until they play teams from other parts of the state. I will always root for the local team

Go to the games and you can see for yourself. Root for whoever you want to. That doesn't matter either.

Trinity this year (and I know that is not a year you are speaking of) was a well oiled machine and will continue to be great for years.

SK, Ryle, Boone, Campbell, Conner, Dixie all get great players from time to time. Trinity has great players at nearly every position and better depth too. The records speak for themselves. Look at the state titles for Trinity and St. X at the highest class level, and then look at those for the Northern Kentucky high schools. Don't look long because there are none.

You can't tell me there haven't been some great athletes-Shaun Alexander-Boone, Miles Simpson-SK, Pike-Dixie, Gray-Ryle, but the difference is in depth, and that is where Trinity, in particular has it all over the Northern Kentucky schools. The best these schools can hope for is to be in the opposite bracket from Trinity and make it to the title tilt.

As one poster has already pointed out, the difference is in depth. If you look only at the first 10 - 15 players, in a very good year, a top public school program could be close to a private school. But when you look at players 15 -50 , there is absolutely no comparison. Schools that have defined geographical limits to "Attract" players from cannot compete with schools that have no geographical constraints.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I doubt very seriously you will find many two way players at Trinity, St X, or even Highlands.

Really not even the year SK lost to St. X in the semi's after Miles Simpson got injured? WOW. I guess Boone and Ryle must have been pretty down that year because SK didn't seem too awful.

Not a chance...
