Define "impact player"

Let me beat LN to the punch.

One lineman?

Impact meaning a player that without them the outcome of the games may have been substantially different. They really made a difference out there. They were game changers

Jordan Nevels

Sean Sester

Scott kuehian might have misspelled it

Randy Stegman

Brent Grover

Good Lord I swear I just heard LN screaming all the way over here!

Collinsworth, Sheehan, Roller, Stein, Hurtt, Cecil (pick one), Bardo, Hempfling, Schlosser, Bathiany (K), Dempsey (HHS last two-way player), Bruns, Fitzgerald, Rosenhagen, Laber, Kremer(s)...I think I may have left out about a thousand other worthy names.

Nice additions to the list, but that is just a scratch of the surface.

I dare not attempt. For too many worthy names would be left off.

You know me too, too well.

Although some of the players played on the same team (Ex. Grover, Gino Guidugli, and Hamblen). Take one of them off and they would still dominate. That is tough if the criteria for impact means that, "without them the outcome of the games may have been substantially different." Take one of them away and they still likely have the same record, but I believe they were the best players.

I am not great with the players before Lorenzen or after the 2007 team though...

Using that criteria, than it is Frisk. 95 was a Nationally ranked team w a great d, but Frisk made them exceptional. Without Frisk, 95 looks a lot like 04. 04 was really good, but 95 was special.

I truly think there is no Highlands player that fits this. That is how Mueller has grown the program to a new level. There never are one or two players IMO that would make the outcome of games substantially different. In fact, look at the recent teams and some key injuries that have occurred to their best players. Collinsworth was hurt a lot his senior year - Birds keep winning. Sorry, I can't remember his name but the RB who many thought might be Mr. Football candidate but got hurt in preseason and didn't play all year - he goes out and Birds march on. Bardo goes down, sophomore Towles with very limited QB experience steps in, Highlands keeps winning. Highlands is too deep for one or two players, no matter how good they are, to cause game outcomes to be "substantially different".

The two that jumped into my mind immediately were Mike Mitchell and Clay Cecil.

And how many games did Highlands play without Mitchell his senior year, including playoff games? That is no knock on Mitchell. You just helped make my point above that there isn't any one or two or three players on any Highlands team that would make game outcomes significantly different if he were not there.

Again, Frisk fits this to a T.
