wouldn't exactly call Alvin Sims a guard, but OK.

I'd take that first 10 up against a lot of teams.

Frankfort High School

Bobby Bodell - class of '69 - D1 Maryland

Phillip Perry - '70 - D1 Wake Forest

Bobby Jones - '68 - D1 Drake University

Dwight Mattison - '68 D1 Morehead State University

Chris Current - '03 D1 University of Louisville

Who am I forgetting?

One of the craziest basketball games I ever saw. SC (in the ACC back then, I'm pretty sure) and Maryland played a game where the halftime score was 4-3. Game eventually went to OT. South Carolina took a 5-point lead (30 to 25) with less than 30 seconds to play. Terps got a layup to cut the score to 30-27. Got a steal and a basket to get within 1.

Bob Bodell stole the next SC inbounds pass and fed it to a teammate for the winning score; 31-30 final.

I've forgotten a lot of things, but I'll always remember the name Bob Bodell.

What about Steve Pangallo? I believe he's the only one of the Pangallo brothers to be in the 1,000 point club...

I'd say:

Ralph Parton

Scott Thomas - Region POY in 82

Tony Faehr - Region POY in about 74 or 75

Tim Byrns - best shooter in school history

#5 is a tough one. Rick Hicks from the 70s would be considered. Sammy Karr was very talented. A kid named King from the 90s was strong.

Tony Wagner- I believe that he was 9th Region POY in 91.

French Demoisey (UK All American)

Scott Benton

Bill Smith (played for UK)

Kevin Martin

Good List: You can also throw in the following names.

Kevin Martin - Could flat out shoot it from anywhere once he stepped in the gym

Others that played baseball in college but were pretty good basketball players as well.

Seems like there'd be a Robertson or two in contention for the list.

I never got to watch Mike Fessler play (he was in '62), but he put up 50 points against Dixie Heights and had the highest scoring average for an individual season with 25.4. It's difficult to leave a guy like that off the list.

Other than that, I'd take Corey Grace ('97?). He was a beast and ended up playing for Thomas More. He went down to Kentucky to attempt to walk-on, but they told him that there were no more spots on the roster. Somebody by the name of Saul Smith took the last one.

It's difficult to leave Andy & Kevin Listerman off the list, but I think there are much more talented players. I'd probably take Nestheide ('04) & Purdon ('01)over them, but that's just my opinion.

Also, Dan Tieman deserves a spot. Anybody who plays behind the Big O has a legit reason for riding the pine. :D

So that leaves me with this:

Dick Maile

Roger Tieman

Randy Noll

Joe Voskuhl

Joe Fritz

Corey Grace

Matt Nestheide

Steve Purdon

Dan Tieman

Andy Listerman

Not sure how Corey Grace is getting mentioned here, he's not even in the conversation of all time greats. Trust me, Don Turney would've "outbeasted" him in high school, college (Marshall), and as a late round pick in the NBA (No, I'm not related - just saw both of them play). Dan Tieman would probably tell you that Kevin Listerman would make this list over Netheide and Purdon on any day of the week. Other than that, pretty solid list.

Think what you will about Bender...but he finished his career as the #2 scorer and #1 rebounder...hard to beat those stats considering all the great players that play for the Bruins.

Hard to leave off the schools number one scorer...Quinten Snyder. Lee Raker...where is he? If stats matter you better throw in Keelan Martin too. #3 scorer of all time.
