  1. Congrats to the Colonels for winning Frosh & JV championships. Nice job by Coach Bogenshutz and Coach Michels and all the players for both teams
  2. Congrats to Coach Krumps on another milestone in a great career. That picture from 1992 looks a little like Clint Eastwood in the dugout!
  3. Why couldn't the other tournaments switch their times? Is it all on the director at St. Agnes to accommodate? They tried, it didn't work out with what was available and that's too bad. FWIW, they were able to switch for the 7th grade Beechwood team on multiple occasions so it's not anything against Beechwood.
  4. I just read this post and you are completely wrong about this. They (St. Agnes) did offer to switch the game in conjunction with the 7th grade Beechwood team and had it worked out. The coach chose to forfeit the game because of the quick turnaround time needed to get to Sharp. St. Agnes had no other options due to it being the final weekend of tournament. The guys that run this tournament do a tremendous job and work with all teams involved to accommodate schedules better than anyone else does. Is it their fault that the conflict arose due to weather cancelling the middle school games the weekend before?
  5. Understood. However, if they don't win the region this year, I still think it'll be viewed as a huge disappointment. Not saying that's fair, but I do think that's how it will be viewed in the Cov Cath community as a whole. Again, just a personal opinion/observation.
  6. Nope, just a realist. I think the program and coaching staff are excellent, just believe that if they don't win the region (or more) every year with the expectations of greatness thrust upon them with kids who haven't even played a varsity minute yet, then it'll be the same old cry heard before in football, baseball, and past basketball regimes - how in the world do you lose with all that talent in the building. So then is it the coaches fault (they did win a state championship and I don't expect they'll forget how to coach), unrealistic expectations, or overrated talent?
  7. The dynasty talk and adoration of the coaching staff will end as soon as they don't win the region! Then the sky will fall and everyone will wonder why they lost with all that talent in the building. Just ask any other coach past or present that has dealt with it in the past at Cov Cath.
  8. I saw cars with plates from Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Florida parked in Leatherneck's driveway over the weekend! I'm pretty sure it wasn't a family gathering.
  9. Maybe they hire Edgington as head coach, he brings in Crable, Zook, Mueller, and Specht to beef up his staff and the paint guy drives the bus to PWE's for pregame meals instead of having them eat on campus!
  10. I think they (and others) would love to have two teams however, my understanding is that they are limited by how many games they can play by KHSAA. If you have a 30 game max, each game played by either team counts against the total. They may have to play a 10 game schedule with a "B" squad and 20 game schedule with an "A" squad. Ohio schools field multiple teams without the restrictions.
  11. When they introduce the starters before home games I believe they give what parish they're from. Based on memory of the current rosters it breaks down like this - JV - 4 St. Agnes, 3 St. Joe's, 3 St Pius, 2 B.Sac. - Varsity - 5 St. Agnes (Lenhof, Flood, Schuh, Ziegelmeyer, Theobald), 2 St Pius (frosh - Ruthsatz, Mayer), 3 St. Joe's (Shumate, Massie ?, Romes) , 2 B.Sac (CVH, Heppler) Sweeney & Bessler ?. I'm sure some of those are wrong and I missed some kids from outside the main 4 feeder schools.
  12. Not sure how Corey Grace is getting mentioned here, he's not even in the conversation of all time greats. Trust me, Don Turney would've "outbeasted" him in high school, college (Marshall), and as a late round pick in the NBA (No, I'm not related - just saw both of them play). Dan Tieman would probably tell you that Kevin Listerman would make this list over Netheide and Purdon on any day of the week. Other than that, pretty solid list.
  13. In the immortal words of Bum Phillips, I suspect Coach Mueller could take his'n and beat your'n and take your'n and beat his'n. From a former Colonel, I wish you nothing but the best in retirement, it is well deserved. Respect is earned, not given and I'm certain that even the most ardent Colonel fans would say you've earned their respect. Congrats on a great career !
