NKY Middle School Boys Basketball 2014/15

Featured Replies

Looks like another year of middle school basketball is about to start. The Erlanger Classic is next week (11/6 - 11/8) and I believe Campbell County has one too.

Who are players to watch for this year?

Will Rolf (Beechwood)

Garrett Beiting (Campbell County)

Sam Vinson (Highlands)

Evan Rom (Highlands)

Cam Hergott (Highlands)

Kelly Niece (Woodland)

Grant Profitt (Woodland)

These are a few of the kids that I know who are very good.

Starkey- Highlands

Bromwell-Gray Middle

Macke-Highlands

I'm sure I have omitted a few kids but these are ones who come to mind when thinking of some of the top players.

Not sure how many will play 8th grade but Walton had a pretty good team last year. Not sure of first names but know the last names on a few.

I think you have a pretty good list here. You may have been a little nice to the Highlands boys, but overall a nice list. I would add:

Mitchell Schilling - Beechwood

Raqwon Williams - Turkeyfoot

Evan Stallman - Saint Pius

As I mentioned I likely omitted a few thanks for the help.

Too nice on Highlands you say......which one would you say isnt? I personally have seen 95% of the 8th graders play both during and in offseason and I will stick to my list.

Walton does have a very nice team as well and will be a threat in the 8th Region for years to come.

Campbell Co will be loaded this year with the addition of Logan Harrod to go along with an already solid group.

Welcome to BGP by the way.

I respect your opinion. That class for Highlands will be very good. Walton will do well, but the team to beat, IMO, is the Cov Cath class for next year. Based on our lists, the front court will be Thelen, Coldiron and Stallman. Add Mcginnis (Blessed Sacrament BTW) and a host of 1 guards. That team will be special.

Thanks for the welcome, Q.

Are you sure McGinnis is going to attend CCH? I am hearing some grumblings to the contrary. May just be rumors.

I would be very surprised if he didn't go there. His brother does well there and Casey is always boasting for cch. Stranger things have happened. I did hear a rumor that he may go to Beechwood.... which would be great for us.... but I think it is just that, a rumor.

Don't forget about some very talented kids at Ockerman.

Michael Spencer is healthy (out of the knee brace) and 3" taller

Michael Armour faster and more experienced

Jacob Stewart gets better every year

Should be an exciting year for NKY hoops!

Thanks for the additional names. I do think Michael Spencer will develop into a fantastic player as well. He can take over a game.

CovCath will definitely be loaded with those players coming in, not to mention I dont even think we have mentioned any kids from St. Joes Crescent Springs.

McGinnis apparently is a very good baseball player I hear so that may play into his decision as well. Both Beechwood and CovCath have fantastic baseball programs and coaches.

I think Ayden Camp for Conner needs to be on the list. The kid carried the team last year with some big wins over IHM, St. Pius, Gray, and Woodlands.

As for 6th graders, Conner will have another good team. They go about 9 deep this year and any of them could start at anytime during the season. I'd watch for #4, I've seen him play for the NKY Hurricanes and he shut the kid from Campbell County down.

Another boy to watch for is Parker Fields playing for Ockerman, the kid can play all 5 positions and probably will have to during the year. I'm hearing IHM will be good and they have some bigs, not sure if they have any guards to go along with them though.

7th grade should see another strong season from Jared Hicks, he has grown over the summer and has been playing up with the 8th graders during the summer.

The 2 best teams at the 6th grade level will probably be Highlands and Beechwood. Beechwood is extremely deep with kids from the Ky Bulls, NKy Thunder and the Tarheels. Beechwood will be 8 or 9 kids deep with not much drop off. Highlands is basically the whole Gametime team minus Beiting from Campbell Co., which is probably the best AAU team in NKy
