I think Ayden Camp for Conner needs to be on the list. The kid carried the team last year with some big wins over IHM, St. Pius, Gray, and Woodlands.

 

As for 6th graders, Conner will have another good team. They go about 9 deep this year and any of them could start at anytime during the season. I'd watch for #4, I've seen him play for the NKY Hurricanes and he shut the kid from Campbell County down.

 

Another boy to watch for is Parker Fields playing for Ockerman, the kid can play all 5 positions and probably will have to during the year. I'm hearing IHM will be good and they have some bigs, not sure if they have any guards to go along with them though.

 

7th grade should see another strong season from Jared Hicks, he has grown over the summer and has been playing up with the 8th graders during the summer.

 

Yes, Ayden has a very high motor. He played AAU this past spring with the NKY Royals so I got to see him a lot. Strong rebounder who is relentless.

CovCath will definitely be loaded with those players coming in, not to mention I dont even think we have mentioned any kids from St. Joes Crescent Springs.

 

McGinnis apparently is a very good baseball player I hear so that may play into his decision as well. Both Beechwood and CovCath have fantastic baseball programs and coaches.

Yes, indeed I knew Fleek was out there somewhere and Quentin played like a beast for the NKY Royals in the spring. He compliments Coldiron very well at IHM. Two excellent players. My memory is really bad that I omitted those 2.

Blaine played QB for me in the FTJRFL in the 4th Grade and was special. Lefthander who could zing it and had a ton of moxy. Great athlete, he will be a good one as well for Camp Ernst. I hear he is an excellent baseball player as well.

I agree, Blaine is a great kid and has an exceptional arm. He's the quarterback for the Union Jags 8th grade team. Also Ayden has the heart and toughness any coach would love! It would be nice to see a truly select AAU 8th grade team from NKY come together to compete at KY State and Nationals and test the waters in one of the elite Middle School leagues like the NYBL. I know Michael Spencer has played at that level in Cincinnati with All Ohio and with the Memphis War Eagles. Several of the kids listed in your players to watch also played with the NKY Tarheels, Derby State and Shining Stars programs. Could be a good supplement and exposure opportunity after the school season ends. Any thoughts?

I would think Gray is still the team to beat at the 8th grade level. Campbell County will be better with the addition of Harrod.

 

This season will be a tough one with all the large schools beating each other up twice during the season. Add the one game against the other large school district and we should see some good basketball.

Dante Allen at Pendleton County... but he won't be playing middle school basketball. He had 51 points in a JV game over the summer, and routinely puts up 30-35 playing up against AAU freshman.

I'd like to hear a 7th grade list... From what little I know, I'd start with Huddleston and Gesenhues at Highlands, Gross at Campbell County.

Agree with Parker Fields. Basketball IQ off the charts and the boy lives in the gym. Gonna be a stud in a few years at Cooper.
