I am hearing blue and white for McGinnis and it is not CovCath

He does live in Kenton County so I guess with open enrollment he could go to Simon Kenton.

The 2 best teams at the 6th grade level will probably be Highlands and Beechwood. Beechwood is extremely deep with kids from the Ky Bulls, NKy Thunder and the Tarheels. Beechwood will be 8 or 9 kids deep with not much drop off. Highlands is basically the whole Gametime team minus Beiting from Campbell Co., which is probably the best AAU team in NKy

IHM should be pretty good too... no? Don't they have a lot of kids from the Force?

And will Highlands have any height? I've seen that Gametime team... lots of little guys.

I don't know much about the catholic schools. I do think most of the Force kids do go to IHM though. Cam Hergott is HHS's tallest kid.

Anyone know about the Erv Whitford Memorial tournament this weekend?

Where is that played at?

At Silver Grove, and St. Thomas I think.

Highlands Boys 8th Grade will play in the Camel Classic on the 15th.

I looked at their schedule and it is grueling. There should be some very competitive games this year. Many of the Highlands boys are growing and getting much stronger than last year which were a couple of their weaknesses.

Hot off the rumor mill...

Rumor is Rankin is going to play on the Freshman team this year (there goes the 3 peat if he does). Woodland has a transfer from Walton Verona that will add some height to their line-up.

Conner boys are playing in the Erlanger Classic next week. 6th grade has two games on Thursday (teams to be named later) and the 8th grade is playing Saturday vs Newport and Ockerman. Should be a fun couple of days to watch some local kids get ready for the season.

Rankin probably should play up. I am sure the Ryle Varsity coach isnt concerned with a 3peat of a Middle School Tournament. They have some nice talent coming up and Vince is a very nice player who they should build around.

I know Coach Listerman has been working with the Highlands 8th graders actually attending practices and coaching. He has made it clear that his Middle School teams are part of the entire program and not separate. Something the former Varsity coach didnt seem to emphasize....see Ben Weyer.

Is that the St Henry (grade school) tournament? They always put on a really well organized tourney in early November.

I believe The Erlanger Classic is played at Tichenor and Lloyd. It is played more as a scrimmage than a real game. Each team gets 2 games.

I could be wrong, but there has never been an 8th grader play "up"/freshman ball at Ryle (or any Boone Co school district school?}. Must be a change.

I think you're right. I know at Conner there is some sort of rule that says if you bring up an 8th grader you have to bring them up to the high school team ie not the frosh team. Conner has a couple of 8th grade girls in this situation. Frosh team was not an option.

I have heard that too about Boone County School district. None of this has been confirmed of course but just something I heard today that I knew would get some conversation going. In today's world moving a kid up creates hard feelings for the parents of the boy who may now sit longer. I'm not saying I agree with it, I think if your good enough to play up then do it...In Northern Kentucky I'm not sure if there are too many boys that could but it would probably pay off in the long run for the Boone County schools if or when they

The Erlanger Classic is a scrimmage only, all the boys will play I know for Conner. The season starts on 11/17.

Typically the Erlanger games are the first of the season then the Camel Classic the 2nd weekend of November. Im just giddy its hoops season. We has popcorn day at the office today and the smell was awesome, I kept thinking I was at a Basketball game.
