Surprised there hasn't been more mention of this kid. I've been told he might be the best player in the state for his class.

Plays with the kentucky royals in leagues at landmark and soas, and last aau season at the national tournament. He played this past session with the warriors at soas. Kid is built to play the game, long with a good handle, outstanding beyond the arc 80-85 percent from line.

How long will Donte Allen stay at Pendleton County? I think Pendleton County is a fine place, but not your typical NKY powerhouse for basketball. What would happen if he went to Cov Cath, Holmes, or NCC. He would play better competition and would have more opportunities to showcase his skills.

If the kid grew up in the county I'd hope he'd stay there with his boys.

 

AAU will get him all the looks he needs.

McClendon is a 7th grader this year... and a very young 7th grader at that.

Not sure...maybe the better players are playing up on the frosh level this year and that's why there isn't much mention of them?

 

From those inside the program, that 8th grade group is supposed to be the next special class that comes through Holmes. Was told they have a really good point guard and a kid that was already 6'4 last year as a 7th grader. One person told me they'd be surprised if they lost a middle school game this year.

 

I could have them mixed up with the freshman group, but I'm almost positive they told me it is the 8th grade team that is going to be really good and loaded with talent.

Is he playing in a league now? Seems odd the high school coach would allow that this close to the season. Did he play this summer when Pendleton scrimmaged Bracken because a player of this caliber I would have remembered.

He played last Saturday with the Kentucky Royals obviously. I don't know how much longer that fall Southwest Ohio season has to go, but the khsaa restriction about playing on other teams only applies, the way I read it, when a student has become a 9th grader.

 

With respect to the Bracken scrimmage, I have no idea if he played but I would guess almost certainly not. You would have remembered him. I know he played in some JV scrimmages over the summer, and scored 51 points in one of those.
