I heard from a doctor acquaintance today that data is now coming out that says asymptomatic younger people also appear to not be contagious. That is huge news if it continues to prove accurate.

I didn't realize that they were ever differentiating.  What do they define as younger people?

I'm eager to hear more on this. 

Children have been largely sheltered until this recent outbreak.

I'll have to say these reports are all over the map, I read an article yesterday that discussed the damage that asymptomatic children are seeing to their lungs even though they show no symptoms.  

 

Washington DC has decide to move football to the spring. This appears to be a growing trend with football being moved to around February.

What does that do for spring sports?  If they are accustomed to playing/practicing on the football field.  Likely they'll have to move elsewhere or share.  I don't see football sharing very well.  Will be interesting.

Also football players who typically play in the fall and maybe lacrosse in the spring.

Now will likely have to choose which one.

Biologically, this is confusing. I’d love to hear more.  

The CDC said this 3-4 weeks ago, though they didn't limit it to asymptomatic younger people. The gist of their statement was that they had discovered that asymptomatic people can transfer the virus but those cases are extremely rare.

I’ll have to track down the memo/statement. So winter sports get shortened and spring sports get pushed back some with fall sports playing between. As far as lacrosse goes I believe it’s more of a pocket sport where it is played/popular in just a few areas here in KY. 

Michigan and Pennsylvania playing fall sports. Strange how some states going ahead with playing and others cancelling.

The original report cited by the podium people that was used to create the original uproar about 'asymptomatic' had to be updated.  The asymptomatic person (that was never directly interviewed in the original) later confirmed she was symptomatic. 

There are now other studies where they have confirmed that "asymptomatic" people hardly, if ever, are carriers.

The logic is simple.  If you have a strong enough immune system to contain the virus from causing symptoms, then the virus is not likely multiplying heavily in your system or the new copies are getting handled as they break out of the host cells.  As always, a strong immune system is your best defense at any age. 

KY Football Coaches Association Elected Council Statement : 7/16/2020

We support KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett and the Board of Control in their efforts to safely have a 2020 Football Season this fall.  We are willing to be flexible in how the season looks, including the number of games, when the season begins and in regards to  the playoff structure. We are appreciative of the opportunity our kids have had to workout these past five weeks and that they will be able to continue those workouts through August 3rd.  In order to have a football season in the fall of 2020 for our student-athletes, we are willing to make the necessary adjustments. 

 

 

 

 

Iowa is starting football on time. Michigan has also said they will begin football on time.

If it’s true Hazard has 18 players, 3 coaches, and 15 family members test positive, then this fall season is not looking good.

Or, if all are recovered in the next two weeks, Hazard should have less to fear about possible CV19 infections and impact.
