In all seriousness, back to the subject of the thread. Really appreciated what St. Pat has been able to accomplish athletically at such a small diocesean school. Matt Taylor and his staff did an exceptional job. He will be hard to replace. Real question to me.....is the ideal candidate a young coach looking at a stepping stone opportunity, or an older (perhaps public school retiree) experienced coach there only for the love of kids and the game with perhaps another 10 years of energy to give. Have no candidates in mind, but the fact is the younger coaches quickly have to move on for retirement planning, if nothing else. A diocesean coaching career is a tough longterm financial journey.

For St. Pat's sake...I'd like to see them get someone in the latter category you listed. Someone who doesn't need to worry about their retirement package and would do it for the love of the game and stay 10 - 12 years.

Agree 100%. These candidates are often found in urban areas; however, probably a challenge for a small town program to attract. Timing compounds St. Pat's search should they opt to go in this direction. Matt's father, Gary, still showed some energy. However at 69, probably found this by just being there to help his son's program. Guess he's either going to FC or back to Florida. Quality man, quality role model, and a solid coach.

Actual unretouched photo of OlderCoach playing hoops.

Little embarrassed by that photo. Liked it a lot better a few years later when we went to really short bottoms with singlet tops that were so baggy the armpit openings actually tucked in our waistbands. Allowed for quicker foot movement in our Chuck Taylors and helped keep the score in single digits.

This is probably a tough fill I'm guessing...the coaching pool is a little shallow lately down the AA. (No offense intended to anyone currently coaching, just doesn't seem to be a lot of options out there)

It's interesting since it is late in the game. Most schools have already made their hires for next year.

Hearing:

Casey County assistant John Mike Reitz (HOF) Mike Reitz son is in the running along with KABC 3rd region Coach of the Year John Kirkpatrick, previous staff Tony Moore and Aaron Rigdon along with recent graduate Ryan Gallenstein who's been coaching middle school ball at G-town Ohio.

Bed best IMO would be to solidify a coach that could directly benefit enrollment. Rigdon has a super talented son and this could REALLY pull some talent from Mason County. MACO is drooling over this guy coming through the ranks. Rigdon would stay for a good while too.

The cupboard isn't empty or potential. Only 2 seniors on this roster.
