2024 Outlook

Ballard enters the 2024 season coming off a very close loss in the 6A Semifinals to Bryan Station. This season they will have a new coach in Matt Keuhn who was an assistant at Ballard and is stepping up in to the head coaching role. He was previously the head coach at Bullitt Central. The Bruins return a lot of firepower with QB Larry Irvin and a very talented WR core in Maurice Stephens, Alpha Secka, and Daelyn Thompson. The one question mark for Ballard this season will be at RB as they lose a very good one in Journey Wyche and also Demari Edelen. They will be inexperienced at that position but have lots of good young players to fill in that role starting with Lamar Hockersmith. This should be a very good team and one that I am sure feels like they can take that next step and get to the 6A Championship game.

Nice write-up LJ!  Ballard had a really good year last year.  I feel they are in the pod of teams below the Big 3 (T, X and Male) and probably Fredrick Douglas now too.  Who would you put in that next pod with Ballard?

I'd put Manual (who Ballard beat in Double OT the round before) and Bryan Station for sure.  Who else?

@Purple88 I like Ballard a lot and think they will be explosive on offense and the QB Larry Irvin will hook up with the speedy WR Maurice Stephens early and often and will be one of the best QB/WR Duos around in my opinion. Ballard came up a game short of the state finals last year and I feel like they can go that far again and possibly make it to the state championship.
