nWo
MAdsion Central had great run but their district basically takes a lot of the heat. They have won it how many straight years? I believe it has been 11 years in a row now.
colonelfan2001
Didnt these two have a classic at the state tourney when Estill played? Yes, in 1999 Scott Co. and Central met in the second round of the state tournament. This is when Marquis Estill played. Estill had knee problems and I can remember sitting in the stands and watching Scott Co. diving at Marquis' knees. This rivalry goes back pretty far. It is always "sweet" to beat Scott Co. and especially to go to the sweet 16.

Please take this off it is very unfair.
westsider
I saw the Madison Central-Scott County game in the 1999 quarterfinals (so did about 23,000 others) and I don't remember seeing anything like that. I do remember that Estill came into the game with a bad knee, hurt the other one during the game and was barely able to run the floor in the second half. I still think that Madison would have won the game if Estill had been healthy.
Your Daddy
Does anyone have an explanation of how Bud Mackey does not make the all-tournament team? It looks like two players were the most taken from each team and the fact that Scott County didn't win it and would get three, may be the reason. Walls and Haddix were also deserving. He has been arguably the best player on the floor each time I have seen Scott County this year. Quarterfinalist - 1 player each Berea - Chris Quinley Bryan Station - Shelvin Mack Franklin County - John Meyer Dunbar - Deontay Wright Semifinalists - 2 players each Lexington Catholic - Brian Hewitt, Nathan Novosel Wooford County - Chris Williams, Jake Pennington Scott County - Matt Walls, Rodney Haddix Champion - 2 players + MVP Madison Central - Aaron Morris, Andrew Mathis + Duane Fields - MVP In the 3 regional tournament games, these are the stats for the 3 players you mentioned: Matt Walls 13ppg 7.7 rpg 2.7 apg Rodney Haddix 16 ppg 11rpg 1.3 apg Bud Mackey 14ppg 4rpg .7apg

I feel that if you earn it you should get it. What about FG%, steals, and blocks? Haddix is still undeniably the MVP, win or lose. But congrats to Duane Fields, way to bring it home. See, I try to play fair.
