Here’s my opinion. The Wing T, much like the Air Raid, or Single Wing, Triple Option, or any other offense that is a system. What makes them great is that they are exactly that, a system. Not just a collection of plays but a system of plays that work together but even beyond that, those that buy into one of these usually buys into it, also buys into how to practice it, how to install it, etc.
That’s what allows you to be successful running them.
That being said, in a modern era of Football I do believe that has to be a balance unless you just have extremely good talent. Good talent elevates yours scheme no matter what. What I think limits the Wing-T is the lack of balance or focus to the pass game. This is why you’re seeing more and more Gun T teams popping up that try to reduce that limitation.
But ultimately it’s this, the system a coach knows inside and outside will always be the best system or scheme for that coach. And then on top of that your level of talent that helps that scheme is even more important.
