theguru
Steve Martin becomes first-time dad at age 67 - TODAY Entertainment =================================== Certainly it is a personal decision but with the average male life expectancy being somewhere in the mid to upper 70s for American men I have mixed feelings. Thoughts?
TAC
Crazy. I have a buddy who just had one at 50. So at 68 his child will be graduating high school. Can't imagine trying to relate to a kid 50 years younger than yourself. Also those basketball games in the driveway would not be competitive. 75center
It would be a concern for myself as the odds of being around to see the child to adulthood are lower and it also would be harder for me to keep up and actively play with the child. ThrillVille Cardinal51
85. That's how old he would be when his child graduates highschool. 91. That's how old he would be when his his child is my age. Although I'm pretty much financially independent from my parents, there is still a heck of a lot that I depend on them for. So I think 67 is way to old to father a child.
ThrillVille Cardinal51
Plus Steve Martin isn't funny.
Voice of Reason
Assuming he is a good father, this child will have a life most of our children will envy. Different yes. But the child will live a blessed life.
spindoc
Plus Steve Martin isn't funny. You would be mistaken. The hotel scene in planes, trains, and autombiles with John Candy is classic.
BigVMan23
No he's not too old IF the mom to be is under 30.:ylsuper: In all seriousness, yes I believe that is too old.

Getslow
Plus Steve Martin isn't funny. You've just signed up to get a PM from me once a day with a You Tube link to a Steve Martin clip. I'm kidding. I think.
BIG BLACK JACK
I hope that kid never expects to play catch with his dad!
Beechwoodfan
My father died at age 36. Life has no guarantees. If it is something the guy wants (though it would definitely not be for me), then I say go for it.
TAC
Assuming he is a good father, this child will have a life most of our children will envy. Different yes. But the child will live a blessed life. Most children get to spend many years with their parents. I had a very blessed time with my parent but I still felt cheated when I lost my mom at 60 and my dad at 70. This kid does not have very good odds of spending 40 years with his mom and 50 with his dad like I did. And did I mention, that was not enough time with them!
