Home Run Derby

Recommended Posts

Anyone remember the Home Run Derby TV. shows from the early 60s, I'm guessing, where two sluggers like Mays and Mantle would be filmed in black and while trying to hit homers and then discuss their efforts dressed in suits in studio? I can't remember who the host was. Don't believe this was a network series but rather was done in syndication.

Talk about a blast from the past. I remember watching this on Nick at Night in the mid 80's

Stanton hit about seven pop ups in a row that beat him. When Judge hit a pop up, it cleared the fence by five feet. He is a awesome prospect. Don't see his kind come around very often. What if the Reds would have gotten him in the Chapman deal.

He'd have 40 HRs right now in that launching pad.

What an impressive display. How many teams passed on Judge when he was drafted? Bet most regret passing on him. Just a freakish athlete. And knowing his background and how respectful he seems, gotta be happy for that kid.

He's really hard not to root for, even playing for the Yankees.

Seeing these prospects do so well for the Yankees. Makes me really wonder why the reds settled for what they got in the trade for Chapman. One of best closers in baseball and didn't have to give up really any of their top guys for him.
