Sorry to hear this sad news. One of the "Twin Towers" on the '78 championship team.

I hate that. Met him when the Seniors came to Danville to play the Marathon Oilers. He had me sit on the bench beside him and talked to him when resting during the second half. Really sad. :(

We got a call this morning telling us of the news. My Hubby just went to Florida last year on a golf outing with him. My prayers are with his wife and children.

After playing pro basketball overseas for more than a decade, Mike was my colorman in Madisonville in 1997, then became the play-by-play man the following year. He had married a Hopkins County girl. Nice guy; easy to talk to. Sure sorry to hear this.

Good pic broadcaster. He did a great job covering Madisonville and was very easy to talk to either in the gym or just in town. Like you sorry to hear this also.

So sorry to hear this, always liked him. Prayers to his family and friends.

Side note: watch it and you will see that Bobby Knight was always a jerk, not just in his old days.

Mike Phillips along with Robey, Lee and Givens were the first autographs I ever got. I was 11 when they came to town and signed autographs at a local business.

Like may others he along with that 78 team were the first great UK team we knew.

So sad to hear of his untimely passing.
