ChuckT Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 Can anyone give us some updates from the meeting? I believe there are several schools looking at trying to re-district.
Tkinslow Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 I thought Hopkinsville was consolidating with Christian Co. I keep hearing it’s their last football season so if it is why would they be worried about 25-26.

You can click here and find the responses from all schools in Class 6A. https://khsaa.org/2025-2026-class-6a-alignment-feedback-from-membership/ Speaking to Hopkinsville specifically, they have only recently hammered home an officially consolidation date (2026). Here was their request/situation, essentially asking to not play in 6A if they aren't actually a 6A school: In speaking at length with Chris Bentzel, CCPS Superintendent, and new HHS FB Head Coach, Dustin Lopez, we respectfully request that Hopkinsville High School FB be returned to 4A—District 1. Over the last 3 years, situations and variables have altered the plan for our consolidation of Hopkinsville High School and Christian County High School multiple times, leading to changed paths for academics as well as athletics. This is evident by our 2023 request to move CCHS from 5A to 6A in order to prevent multiple disruptions in our opponent’s schedules. Now that we have a definite consolidation date, 2026, we can focus on providing the best environment and opportunity for our outgoing Jrs and Srs. Our request is two-fold in its reasoning. 1. We feel it is vital for our last HHS Sr class to be in a FB class that allows them to be competitive and experience the opportunity to earn advancement in the 4A playoffs. Memories will be made and we are just sincerely asking that our HHS FB players and staff be given chance to play at a level of competition that those memories are a reachable possibility. 2. Scheduling a. The current proposed alignment has HHS in a 6A 4-team District for 2025 and 2026. By removing HHS from 6A-District 1, it will create a 3-team District—the same District that will exist in the 2026 season. This will allow teams in this District to create a schedule that will be uninterrupted by consolidation since Christian County High School is one of the three District teams. CCHS would need only 1 game to complete its 2026 regular season schedule. b. If HHS were to be moved to 6A-District 1, the difficulty of creating a 2025 regular schedule could be insurmountable. Even with the planning of a Bowl game, the last CCHS vs HHS FB game, and two District games, we will still have to schedule 6 games on a one year contract. By keeping HHS in 4A-District 1, with the situations being the same, we now only have to find four teams to complete our 2025 regular season schedule. Please understand, we are also keeping in mind the other five members of 4A-District 1. With the exit of HHS, they will only have to find 1 team to complete their 2026 regular schedule. We can help facilitate open games for the 2026 regular season for these teams through the vacancies left from the 2025 HHS schedule. c. Placing HHS in 4A-District 1 would potentially cause the least amount of scheduling interruption and conflicts. Both schools have shown (23 & 24 regular seasons) the ability to work together with CCHS and create a full schedule for our teams and their opponents.
zoneblitz24 Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 So I'm guessing the KHSAA did what they normally do and refused logic on the 5A AI district proposal. You can't even justify their reasoning for those districts except let's figure out a way all the Louisville teams make the playoffs and forget the rest of the state. 1
