All District Teams
CR- I don't have an answer for you, but I can offer my opinion. I don't think that you can go wrong with Will or Steven Ferguson(1st team). Their styles of play are apples and oranges. According to KHSAA stats Ferguson had 12 rushing TDs, 14 passing TDs. He amassed nearly 1100yds rushing and 1200yds passing. Many see him as a D1 player. Will had a great year and is deserving of 1st team honors. His stats were crazy good. The only negative(if you can call it that) is he is considered by some as a "program" guy. I don't necessarily share this opinion, just what I hear from some coaches.

Manual star transferring?
Wow Ram, that is a pretty bold statement. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that someone that has enrolled in the almighty Manual has decided that that wasn't the best fit. As a matter of fact the name Jordan Whiting should ring a bell to Ram football fans. Don't know why your putting down Eastern, but IMO there are plenty of kids and parents thrilled to be associated with that school or any other public school.

Manual star transferring?
His name was not in last nights basketball box score, if that means anything

Louisville Area All-Star game
The ALL-STAR game being played on the 15th represents the GREATER Jefferson Co. area. The Tenn.-Kent. game no longer exists. Instead, the State has formed their own state-wide game. Coach Wallace from Bowling Green will coach the players from Districts 1,2,3,4. Coach Anderson from SWestern will coach the players from districts 5,6,7,8. I believe the game takes place in June? I have heard that the game will take place @ WKU but not certain.

Lucas fired from Butler?
This is sad news indeed. I hope that this move wasn't made solely based on their record. They play in arguably the toughest 6A district and have a killer non-league schedule. If the rumors about descension within the ranks are true then that could have played a role. Because of their district I would imagine that a quick turnaround (record-wise) would be difficult to achieve. The next coach will have to be patient and hope that any decision made about busing will lend an advantage to them somehow.

Catlett out at Ballard...
One wonders how long that this has been in the making. I know that Mark wasn't exactly thrilled with the schedule that his AD put together. It seems kind of unrealistic to think that Ballard could win 8 or 9 games with that schedule. IMO the mighty dollar may have been the driving force behind the teams that they play in 2007 and 2008.

Trinity 50 Henry Clay 14 (6A)
Generally the protocol would be for a game official to come to the locker room with three mins. left on the clock. They do it every week in Jeff. Co. But, Beatty is smart to have an asistant monitor the situation. You shouldn't count on anyone else to monitor for you.

St X 27 Manual 7 ( 6A )
I know that this is off the beaten path but, I saw a picture in the Courier-Journal where X's kicker was using a Nike football. I was under the impression that only the Rawlings brand with the KHSAA stamp could be used in the playoffs. Anyone in the know about this rule? Is it outdated or maybe it never existed?

Coach John L. Smith
His son wrestled at Eastern also, maybe he is up for the coaching job in that sport!?

St. X star RB Finch likely sidelined at least 3 weeks
Coach Glaser seems to be pretty confident that X can handle their second round opponent without Finch. After all he did mention that he hopes to have Finch back by round three. I'm sure that he knows that the performance of his D will offset any shortcomings on O.But, it sure is nice to have the quality back-ups that they have.

Highlands/Louisville Central predictions
IMO I believe that this game was a great bit of scheduling by Highland. Great idea to familiarize your players to the trip to Louisville. Hopefully, they'll have to make that trip more than once. Central is a very good 3A team. They will benefit from playing UP in their non-district games. I look for a big run from them.(playoffs) With that being said, Highlands merits a spot in the "Best team in the state" conversations. Highlands 38-16

St. X / Louisville Central Predictions
Just Curious, I have read that Central has less discipline than X. I know that X is a disciplined team. Does Central have a discipline problem? If so, I haven't heard of any. Does anybody have info on this? Hey thsrocks, why will X be in a hurry to leave downtown?

Playoff thoughts
Just a few thoughts: *Not a bad thing that almost all teams make the playoffs. I know that Butler may not stand a chance against X, but their young team gets an extra week to practice. That may not sound like much, but I'm sure Coach Lucas(and other coaches for that matter) will use this time wisely. *Mr. Football is wide open! One must be careful not to get carried away with stats. Level of competition is also very important IMO

John Hardin/Nelson Co. predictions
JH is just plain talented. NC playing better. JH 34-18
-
Trinity 55 Seneca 3
Sending a message for the first round of the playoffs?
-
St. X / Louisville Central Predictions
X owns the line of scrimmage. X seems to be improving each game. Central doesn't have the depth to battle with the elite programs week in and week out. With that said, I look for them to do very well in the Class 3A playoffs. They will out perform many of those programs. X 38-12

Trinity/Seneca Predictions
I guess the C-J feels the same way, because they said that the winner of Eastern and Ballard game would host the loser in the 1st round of the playoffs
-
PRP/St. Xavier predictions
I have seen PRP three times this season. It's hard to believe that a team that has a multitude of talent is so one dimensional. Offensively they struggle to throw the football and defensively that don't defend the pass real well. They do run the ball pretty well, but if they get behind they have an awfully difficult time putting points on the board. Just one person's observation. ST.X by a lot!

Trinity @ Ballard 10/4/07 predictions
Although Ballard has some explosive skill players, their line play is average IMO. They may present Trinity with some match up problems, but their play is inconsistant at times. They have to eliminate turnovers if they plan on being successful versus the BIG GREEN. Trinity 49-14

Owensboro at Boone Co predictions
MoR As I recall Eastern's offense was pretty good in 2002. They beat an undefeated Conner squad in the playoffs. The problem lied with the defense. Eastern led Boone 31-13 at HALF. Boone ended up winning. The irony is that Prince did not call the offense for Eastern, he called the defense. Boone had their way in the second half. Hope he studied some tape(for Owensboro's sake)
-
Shelby County/Manual Predictions
Offense isn't a problem at Shelby Co., They have a tough time stopping the run. (500 plus yards vs Scott Co.) They will have to outgun Manuel in order to beat them. I don't see that happening. Manuel 44 Shelby Co. 20

Henlsey Rating System Class 6A Top 10 - Week #6
I'm a bit perplexed in reference to PRP. They have beateen Doss and Butler and lost to Cathederal(INDY), Ballard, Eastern. B and E ranked below them, so how does PRP rate so high? Does score differential mean that much?

Owensboro at Boone Co predictions
Was at the Boone, Eastern playoff game(2002). I saw Boone come back from trailing by three touchdowns at halftime. Why is this relevent? Joe Prince was at Eastern then, Owensboro now. He better find a way to stop the run or Boone will bury Owensboro.(IMO) Boone's schedule much tougher so far. Boone 27-6

Trinity 48 Eastern 12
Topper, I was at field level on Friday, not sure which team did more trash talking, do know that Trinity received TWO personnel foul penalties. If I'm Beatty this would concern me, Especially Robey's.( Don't know why he kicked an Eastern kick while the kid was on the ground?) Mistakes like that could lead to unwanted results and attention. Secondly, noticed that T's field didn't look so great. Pieces of turf were unglued and their were shavings of fake grass all over the player's shoes. What's up with that?

Trinity vs. Eastern Predictions
Trinity doesn't do trap games. They are still #1 in Kentucky and will play like it.
