  1. Male @ Eastern Oct. 31(tenative) at 7:30pm
  2. I see X blowing out Manual. I don't think that Manual is much better than Lex. Cath. and X has continued to practice while Manual couldn't practice all last week. I see the JCPS schools to be at a big disadvantage going into this week, especially if they play non JCPS schools.
  3. FB-any details? Sounds like Coach Holbrook and SO have things going in the right direction. I saw them in some 7on7 stuff. Their kids play hard and compete. Whats the word on Eastern? Had heard that they did pretty well in their scrimmages. Any other details about them besides speed? Is it true that the game ended around 1:00am. Whats up with that?
  4. Any thoughts on how either one or both of these teams will fare in their seasons? How about their season openers?
  5. Interesting dawg. I haven't read or heard about these schools being involved in any wrong doing. I will assume that you know something that the rest of us don't. Please enlighten
  6. Somebody had mentioned that he was snapping for FC @ UofL 7on7. I was there but, did not see Fern Creek. Anyone?
  7. I believe that they didn't wear helmets because it is against their Federation rules. The coaches of the teams that were scheduled to play them were informed of the situation in the pre-contest coach's meeting. Conrats to Doss who also made it to the semis.
  8. The event was won by Bowie H.S. from Arlington, Texas. This competition was attended by teams from Texas, Michigan, Indiana and other states. I saw a couple of games but, the games took place all over campus. Its hard to tell who will be a good team, just by watching 7on7, but you can identify good players. Who impressed you?
  9. Word is that Eastern High School in Louisville has hired Zena Hexstall?(sp.) Does anyone know of her previous coaching positions? What experience does she bring to the table?
  10. Is St. X playing Ballard at home again this year? I thought that they hosted Ballard in thier stadium opener last year? Am I mistaken?
  11. Trinity has a cake walk Eastern will have Dunaway ready for Ballard or St. X Ballard or X will throw # 2 or #3 vs. Eastern Trinity can save #1 for Regional final Anything can happen but on paper advantage Trinity.:irked:
  12. Not totally in the know but, keep in touch with some of the former and current coaches. Seems that they are up-grading facilities (new weightroom, meeting room, concessions and restrooms) Funny Roc, I was under the impression that they had one of the best natural turf fields around. May be wrong but thats what I have heard. As far as Eastern taking pride in the sport, do you know something that I don't. I know of at least two UofL coaches that send their sons there to play. Dr.Berman, the head honcho for JCPS will be sending his son there next year. I will get in touch with their Coaches to see if they take the sport seriously. I am sure Coach Whalen and his staff have a lot of pride and will enjoy your comments.
  13. Somtimes in the process of turning things around you step on some toes and hurt some feelings. It happens all the time with new coaches. It is apparent that Coach H has laid down his law and either your aboard or your gone. Kids and parents may have been promised things by the previous regime that didn't come to fruition. Just a thought.
  14. Jimmie, I'm not a follower of X baseball but am interested in the 7th region. I'm trying to understand your post. You say that last years JRS. straigtened the ship for X. Why are they sitting THIS year. Doesn't seem to make sense unless the younger kids are even better then the ship righters. BTW X and T appear strong(privates) Ballard and Eastern are the frontrunners for the publics
  15. When the rule was changed on district play, it was done with the intention of receiving feedback from the coaches and administrators. Apparently more people liked the old system, thus the change back
  16. Some info on Eastern: They start four seniors Aaron Brawner, Dominique Sangster, Darrin Williams(Bellarmine offered scholarship), and All-State football player Steven Ferguson. Delquin Thomas is a soph who starts at guard. Coach is Jason Couch. LIT runner ups They were chosen the 7th best team in their region by coaches in pre-season. Having a great year:dancingpa
  17. Not sure, but I believe that T brings their "Power Lifting Team". I was told that these guys lift year round and most are not football players. Most of the schools that compete don't have that luxury. Their power lifting team consists of mainly the football players....so is it fair or unfair to the other schools?
  18. Deskins from Valley is definetely a no. Talked to an administrator from J-Town last week and they say that most applicants are assistants at this time. Any current head coach will probably be looking at Bullitt East first (mho). J-Town has potential but, will take time and stability.
  19. I read about teams from the 7th region. I see the usual suspects mentioned, Ballard, Male, J'town and someone even mentioned Seneca. I think that it would be unwise for any of those teams to dismiss Eastern. They are currently 21-4 and have beaten all the teams previously mentioned. I know that you are talking about next year and Eastern starts 4 seniors. But, they have an above average JV team and a Freshman team that is undefeated. Their closest game was their 2nd win over Ballard.(Beat them by 40 their first meeting) Eastern has won 20+ the last 3 years. The will be serious contenders for years to come.
  20. Soph. to be @ Eastern: Jonathon Davis 6'3" 205lbs, 1st team all district as a Frosh.
  21. Congrats to Manual and Coach Just, his kids played well and they deserved to win. I would like to say that Coach Couch from Eastern deserves they same credit. Afterall, his teams are generally picked 6-9 in the district every preseason. They only have 3 losses this year, by 5pts at Shelby Co., 1pt at Ballard and now in OT to Manual. It seems to me that he is often overlooked when the topic of "Best Coach" in the region is discussed. Just MHO.
  22. As long as we are stating OPINIONS, I will give you mine.... Both Ferguson and Pryor would flourish in Trinity's system. (Afterall, they have a lineman going to Florida.) Both Ferguson and Pryor were dual threats Stein was not. Stein is GREAT at what he does, but to say that he is the best qb in the district is just one person's opinion. Also, as I thought no coach admitted to vote anti anybody:sleep::sleep::sleep:
  23. Ladies and Gentlemen, the All-District teams that were in this post are voted on by the Greater Louisville Coaches Association. Therefor, if your school doesn't belong to this association your kids were not posted in the courier. You may have to refer to your local paper. Interesting enough, Shelby Co. is an active memberin the G.L.C.A, but their kids did not play in a Louisville area District. They did not have an all-district member but, had 4 players in the all-star game.
  24. TD- which coaches did you talk to that stated that they voted anti Trinity? Eastside-Why is Qb not his best position? From what I understand at least three D1 programs would love to have him play that position for them.
