  1. Sk-Kid gotta agree with you. Don't see why you need a survey to fix a communication issue. AD gets both parties in same room, hash things out, communication problem solved. The fact that the administration felt they needed to address the survey would lead me to believe that the parents have a unwarranted amount of say in the program. C-Mike you make some good points regarding the rich history of SO athletics. But, they seem to put a huge onous on soccer. Last I heard Football program pays a usage fee on their game field and the Football program spends the least amount of time on the game field. (don't practice on it).Doesn't seem condusive to building a winning tradition. JMO
  2. Saturday night at Easstern. Ballard currently #1 in LIT ratings vs Eastern currently #2 in LIT ratings. Thoughts?
  3. Ty Scroggins is a very smart guy. Why would he leave Central, where he can pretty much pick and choose his players? At Male they no longer have that luxury. Ask Redmon, this played a role in his leaving. Why battle the Privates if you don't have to? You can schedule them during the regular season where results don't mean as much. As far as the biggest pond, A 3A championship ring is just as pretty as any other.
  4. Rockmom, You said that you are not intentionally slamming anyone, yet you name specific schools. That is the only reason that I have an issue with your intent. You may even take offense if someone were to identify Trinity specifically. And thank you for allowing me to think as l like. Greatly Appreciated!
  5. Rockmom, How much do you know about Eastern? I know the entire staff. If you are implying that they were sloppy because of lack of discipline you would be mistaken. Ask Bama Larry, they had 8 new starters on defense. IMO they were outmanned. Nobody was saying much about their discipline 2 seasons ago when they were 11-2. Were they disappointed about last season, I'm sure they were. Please don't blame lack of discipline.:rolleyes:b
  6. Coach J is doing a very good job at Ballard. His team plays hard and will give you all that they have. Time will tell how well his plan works. I'm sure the coaches at other Louisville Schools have a plan also. Time will tell how their plan pans out. I for one agree that many a good coach have coached in the public system. They just couldn't reach the pinnacle. Is it a coincidence that Male hasn't been as competative since they can no longer bring in "non-traditional" students? I think not. Has Central become more competative because they can pick and choose their students? No offense to Coach Scroggins(great coach) but IMO in sure helps. On a side note, is it me or are the Private supports big fans of CoachJ
  7. CoachJ First, let me state that I am a Public School person. I would love to see a Public school compete with T/X(especially a JCPS school). To answer your questions Of Course you would like a more athletic team, anyone would, I contend that the Public Schools have not cornered the market on ahtletes(skill players) Look at guys like Hall, Beach, Nix, Quick, Bishop, Thomas just to name a few. These guys are very athletic. However, you are correct that most came through the Public system until 9th grade. You guys have a good group of skill guys but how many go both ways. Correct if I'm wrong but, I believe that both you and Male had QB's that took defensive snaps. This is a sign of lack of depth IMO. As far as coaches prepping, I believe in Quality not Quantity, so I don't buy the 10hrs are needed to prep argument. Not to mention you can prep and train a racehorse all you want, if the horse is slower it loses. Finally, Only the coach of the certain team knows if they completely maximized THEIR team's players. Good Luck this Year!
  8. Heard that he officially informed Male administration that he intends to leave. Anyone?
  9. Coach J, Are you saying that YOU believe that other 6A public schools don't have private school discipline in their programs? I find that hard to believe or maybe we have different opinions on what exactly that is. W.E. Raider makes some good points. Just because someone takes voice lessons, doesn't mean they can win American Idol. It goes a lot deeper than even discipline. Tell me what Public school (6A) facility rivals T and X. How many assistant coaches do they employ? How many "Advanced Scouts" beat down doors for them? Ask 8th graders on which field(s) that they would rather play X/T or Male Manual? The only thing that could help JCPS is going to Home School. ( Doubt that will ever happen) If that were to happen schools like Ballard and Eastern would give the privates a run for their money.
  10. Agreed! At this point in time Trinity should be #1. They beat the best of the best in the 7th. However, they are NOT head and shoulders above any of these teams. Every game that they won was very close. This can mean one of two things, they can win the close ones or if a team gets hot in the 4th quarter they could be in trouble. Trinity could win the 7th or they may not make it out of their District.
  11. Saw them play about three times last year. They have good but not great talent. They seem to play with a high energy level. Coach W has them pointed in the right direction. They need to get more players involved in the program. Look for them to be competative next year.
  12. Eastern probably a little upset after their performance in the LIT final. Look for them to get healthy. Eastern by 15-18 pts.
  13. If I read the schedule right, I believe that Trinity and X's Districts play each other to start the playoffs. Assuming they are both 1 seeds that would make it a potential 3rd round(quarterfinal) game.
  14. Ballard deserves to be number 1. The rest probably can jumble themselves and it would look okay. Funny stat on Eastern, looking on KHSAA they have only played 1 home game. They have Seneca, Ballard and Jtown at home later in the season. Maybe they are trying to become tournament tough.
  15. Let us not forget that JTown is playing without 3 players and Eastern lost 2 games without their starting center.
  16. May be that there weren't that many applicants to choose from.
  17. Seems to me whoever is playing well at playoff time will be the favorite. Anyone can make a case for Ballard at this time. Afterall, they beat Trinity head to head. Trinity has not played Jtown or Eastern yet(both came up short in their tourneys today, Jtown lost in finals of Gaslight and Eastern lost in finals of the Upward tourney in S.C.) Just too early to pick a favorite. We will just have to wait and see:popcorn:
  18. Heard from a REAL good source that Highlands is in negotiation with a 6A public school team in Louisville. It looks like Highlands will travel to Louisville week 5. I don't know if the contract is signed but, rumors are that the game will be played on Saturday afternoon.
  19. Good to see that Eastern came out with a purpose tonight. A healthy Kam Woods will make them tougher. They are undefeated when he gets his minutes. After watching GRC play twice I believe that their starters are very talented. I do believe that they would struggle with the depth of most 7th region teams. In the 7th you don't have blowouts where you can rest your starters. IMHO GRC's bench players would have trouble flourishing in the 7th.
  20. Eastern looked flat last night. They better get their heads on straight or they will suffer the same fate against GRC.
  21. Seneca certainly deserved to win this game. Eastern had an opportunity to put them away in the first half(up 13)but missed a bunch of free throws. Seneca fought back to win. Redhawks are a GREAT shot blocking team. They had two to three guys contest most shots and were able to do so without fouling. Very rare at this level. Very Rare! Eastern will have to rebound quickly, GRC today, then off to South Carolina. The return of Cam Woods will help. The 6'7'' starting center should be healthy enough to play extended minutes this weekend.
  22. Wow, have not seen Trinity play this year, but if they play better D than Eastern then they are awesome. Eastern goes as their defense goes. If Trinity is better defensively(than Eastern) and has Sewell they should probably be ranked in the top 5. IMO
