5A Open Dates for 2010?

Featured Replies

Do John Hardin, Johnson Central or Bowling Green have open dates for the 2010 season? If so, do they match up with any open dates that HHS might have? In the run up to playoff games we often see discussions in the threads about strength of schedule. Certainly would be better than playing Ryle 2x.

I highly doubt that Dale would schedule any of those teams since they are all potential playoff and State Championship matchups. That would certainly be a good thing for those teams so they can see Highlands first hand but it does not benefit Highlands imo. Now, if St X, Trinity, Male and other 6A powers have openings then you might have something. Go Birds, 20n10.

And I also doubt Highlands would play down in classification to pickup a game.

I know for fact you are wrong on this, you would be surprised who Highlands contacts to schedule games.

Obviously you are right and sweeperboy is wrong because Highlands picked up Beechwood on the schedule last year and will be playing them again this coming season.

Heard from a REAL good source that Highlands is in negotiation with a 6A public school team in Louisville. It looks like Highlands will travel to Louisville week 5. I don't know if the contract is signed but, rumors are that the game will be played on Saturday afternoon.

I don't see how those teams would be better than playing Ryle. The Raiders should be very good in '10. I know playing a team twice isn't ideal but I'm going to guess the a trip to Ryle is a bit cheaper than boarding a bus to head down state.

Seriously? You would rather see two games against an opponent versus replacing one of those games with a quality 6A team?

So do I!!

I don't love the idea of playing the same team twice in the regular season but Ryle should be a very good test for the Birds next season and financially they will probably be better off playing the Raiders.

I would not be surprised to see a split in the 2 game series next year.

History suggests otherwise since he played regular season games with Boyle County several years ago.

I think Ryle just got dissed...

Not by me. I would rather play a a game against a different high quality opponent than play a second game against anyone, I don't care if the oppoenent is Ryle or Trinity or Don Bosco. The key is the new opponent needs to be high quality.

I think that was when BC was on that 5 peat run era. Dale was probably doing what others would like to do to him and that would be get an early scouting report on who you are going to have to beat to win it. Smart move by Dale during that period imo. Now though the shoe is on the other foot. I believe Highlands is the hunted and no way would Dale play any team that is looking for an edge come playoff time. As ole Thunderbirds always says the "State Championship goes through Ft. Thomas" or was that Bob Spire of Lex Cath during the day. :thumb:20n10
