Ballard also defeated Warren Central.

I'm not sure Shelby Valley is a top 5 team. They would probably be the 5th or 6th best team in the 7th region and I also think teams like Scott Co, Clark Co, Christian Co, and a healthy Warren Central would beat them.

I agree to some extent about Shelby Valley, Walter, but we were going off a combination of the team's body of work so far and their talent and potential. SV is yet to lose against a Kentucky team, the win over Miller Grove was impressive, and Elisha Justice is one of the best players in the state that does not get enough credit. If he did play in the 7th, win or lose, he would be getting a much larger push for Mr. Basketball.

 

But certainly there is no perfect formula and I posted this thread to start a debate and see what everyone else thinks.

 

Scott County would have been higher until they lost to LCA. I know they were coming off of six games in eight days or whatever, but a team that talented shouldn't lose to a team like LCA IMHO. However, even with that bad loss the Cards still made the top ten on our list because of the talent on their bench and some quality wins in the Beach Ball Classic amongst other things.

Understandable...but SV is yet to lose to a KY team because they haven't played anyone legit.

 

Also, Miller Grove isn't a very good TEAM. A lot of individual talent, but not good as a team.

 

If Valley played the same schedule as Eastern, Scott Co, Clark Co, Male, Seneca, Christian Co, or Warren Central, do you think you'd still have the same opinion about them?

 

I just can't see putting them that high when they've done nothing to back up the ranking.

According to MaxPreps, Miller Grove is 7-5 and Thomasville is 2-5.

Eastern is top 5.

True but most people had them in the top 5 or 10 to start the season (including us) and they haven't done anything to hurt their ranking either.

I agree that Eastern should be in top 5 and I would have SV no higher than ten. SV has no wins against quality opponents(as illustrated by records of out of state teams) and have lost to mediocre out of state teams.

That is IF he could put up big numbers AND his team was winning and we'll never know that answer. Dayvon Slone was unstoppable last year at Waggener but his team wasn't very good so he didn't get a lot of recognition despite putting up huge numbers.

I wouldn't say that their out-of-state losses are to "mediocre" teams ... The Rock School was the runner-up in the Kreul Classic and Meadowbrook looks to be a decent team. The Kingdom of the Sun is a pretty high-profile tournament that didn't establish its reputation on a bunch of mediocre teams.

First BHR I would like to thank you for listing your top 15 teams. It gives us something to discuss and learn about the other teams.

I will have to agree with Walter on this one. Also not sure on the high ranking for Bowling Green. Can you also explain thier ranking?

I've seen Bowling Green play ... they're solid, but I'm not sure they're a top-20 team, much less in the top 10. They've played a so-so schedule, for the most part, and I really don't see a signature win.

Much like Shelby Valley, BG was a tough call for us because the Purples seem to have the talent but as Westsider mentioned, no signature win.

 

But Bowling Green also hasn't done anything to knock themselves out of the rankings. And despite playing a weaker schedule, they are still 13-1 which is pretty impressive no matter who you're playing.

 

I'm not totally sold on the Purples either, however, so I can certainly understand the debate.
