Holmes and Scott Co. have the best talent in the state.

I would put my Cards right up there with them in talent.

Holmes to me is the best team in the state, tons of talent, and have the most athletic.

Disclaimer: Having grown up in Eastern Kentucky, living in Lexington during college, and spending one year in NKY, I have no reason to be biased toward the Louisville schools.

 

Based on events to date in the season, my top 15 looks like this (again, just an opinion):

 

Tier 1:

 

1. Ballard

2. Holmes

3. Trinity

4. Jeffersontown

 

Tier 2:

 

5. Shelby County

6. Christian County

7. Seneca

8. Eastern

 

Tier 3:

 

9. Shelby Valley

10. Scott County

11. Lexington Catholic

 

Tier 4:

 

12. McCreary Central

13. Male

14. Clark County

15. Warren Central

I disagree. We have played Homles, Eastern, Trinity, Male and Secena. I feel that Eastern, Trinity and Male are all better than Holmes at this point in the season. I do feel that Holmes could be there at the end of the season, but are not now.

Holmes has the one advantage that none of these teams can claim. They have played in two straight championship games and have a title ring to show for it. This type of experience will pay the biggest dividends come March.

If you noticed I put,"this point in the season". Male started slow and has been improving each game. So yes, I stand behind my post.

I know what you are saying, but I said, "at this point in the season", which has nothing to do with post season. Also read my last sentence.

It seems to me there is a bunch of teams playing really well right now, or teams going through a slump, but very capable of being very good. Its hard to rank a top 5. You have:

Trinity

Holmes

Scott Co.

LexCath

Eastern

Male

J'town

Shelby Valley

Clark Co.

Warren Central

Seneca

Lafayette

Tates Creek

Highlands

Having seen all 5 teams that you just listed, Trinity is the only team that would beat Holmes IMO. Eastern, Male, and Seneca are all to inconsistent and none play the same level of defense as Holmes.

 

I think people are looking too much at Holmes record than their actual team. They may have 4 losses, but to date they have just one in state loss and that's to #1 Ballard. This is why I'm not a big fan of judging a team based on out of state wins/losses.

Agreed.

 

Ballard and Trinity are the only two legit choices for #1 and #2. After those two, you could make an argument for probably 7 or 8 teams for slots 3-5.
