The east team met briefly yesterday. No one from St. X or Trinity made it. If they've had other things on their mind this week, I think we can forgive them. Hopefully they'll be at practice today. I'll try to post something tonight or tomorrow when we have a better idea who'll be there.

How are these teams picked?

Coaches nominate players from their teams that are 1st team All-District. Then the coaches that volunteer to coach each side pick from that combined list. They are encouraged to take two from each team on their side and then pick others to fill out the team.

So nobody from T or X is on there because a coach didn't nominate them? Correct?

each school could nominate 2 players on either side of the ball, 1 kicker and 2 alternates. The GLFCA was very insistant that both sides make every effort to have TWO players from each school represented.

 

I know the west team had all but three show up at thier meeting Sunday.

So it's not really an All Star game? I see this as a "best" from each team invited, but certainly not an area "all-star" team. Too many deserving kids aren't on this list.:creepy:

It is my understanding that four players from Trinity were invited to the squad but respectfully declined to participate. I heard they want to take a long and much deserved deep breath and relax for awhile.

Every MLB team is represented in the All-Star game so is that not an All-Star team? It's disrespectful to the kids to say otherwise. The kids were nominated because they were the best players on their team, if a coach didn't nominate a kid then there had to be a reason.

 

If some kid you know didn't get nominated or picked .. talk to your coach.

No disrespect intended, the whole point is there may be multiples from some teams....
