  1. With the way GRC has been playing lately in KY, I'll go with the Boys & Girls NY winning by double digits.
  2. I'm suprised! I even picked them to win the region in my sweet 16 contest! All I heard was their senior leadership and how well they performed this summer. I figured with all the seniors that they had they would be a "well-oiled" machine. I agree, they aren't even competitive. They just can't score! What the heck is going on?
  3. Highlands might get their second win of the season with the way Conner has been playing. Conner is definitely the most disappointing team in NKY with with what they return from last year.
  4. Bryan Station also lost to Henry Clay by 25, and Knott Co. Central by 11.
  5. Problem is guard play, the point guard they have is inexperienced at the varsity level. I also believe he is a freshman and also is very short. He can't see over the defense nor does he have any real good help at the two guard spot, and they don't get it in Jackson Davis' hands enough. Yarborough is the only player that gets the ball and creates his own offense, he is a very good player. The shooters can't get their shot off unless they are wide open and very few screens are used to get them open. Their only real shot at scoring this year is if they get the ball into Davis or Yarborough's hands. Also lack of leadership on the team. Their play is unorganized chaos.
  6. Why is Conner having such a hard time scoring? They look pretty good on paper but they just aren't performing on the court as everyone expected.
  7. Boone has to play a zone defense because a few of their players aren't athletic or quick enough to play man-to-man. Boone will also struggle against a team that presses. They basically play a one guard offense, the other four players are not strong enough at handling the ball to consistently break a quick pressing team. I think Holmes will eat Boone up unless they make adjustments to their lineup. I think Boone Co. is a good team, but they have to make adjustments to the type of team they are playing.
  8. I think what "Walter" was saying was.. Eastern beat Manual by almost 50 and Ballard beat Manual by almost 40. Doesn't look too good for Highlands to be beat by 10 by a team that has been beaten that bad.
  9. Actually, it isn't unusual in "recent years", until last weeks win, they've not won a game since February of 2009. They went the entrie season last year winless.
  10. With the schedule they have I agree, they will lose few games this year. When they do play good teams, it comes down to the guards. Boone has very little varsity experience at that position and when they meet a team that presses (like Holmes) they will struggle. The bigs are useless unless they get the ball. It takes more one or two ball handlers to break a quick, athletic press. Quickness is one area that Boone is lacking and they won't be even close to the defensive teams they had in previous years.
  11. Booher will not fall in to the NKY "slow the game down" trap. He brings in a fast paced full court pressing and scoring in transition game. What a fresh breath of air starting to whirl around in NKY. Maybe the games in the future will not be so boring.
  12. I question the bolded above. There is not a starting 5 in NKY that is "real real" good. If there were, they would be top 10 in the state. Boone has a good team but their depth will hurt them and a tight man to man will limit the outside threat.
  13. Typically the NKY teams play a "walk the ball up the court", and a slower half court offense game, very little pressing and not much in transition. Add the whistle blowing, it usually makes the game pretty painful to watch. Good to see Booher at Holmes, his style of play goes against the norm in NKY.
  14. Good win for Wayne Co. to come into Mercer's house and beat them. These two will battle to be the 12th Region representative at Rupp. Where is the 12th Region tournament this year?
  15. No suprise here with Hickey and Tandy not playing. I would like to see this match-up later in the season when both teams are at full strength. Maybe in March? Good possibility!
  16. Christian Co. goes as Hickey goes. They will REALLY miss his presence. GRC with Stenzel or without Stenzel will win this one fairly easy.
  17. Good to see the Royals making a game of it. That's two close losses, hopefully they will get a win soon. Hang in there Royals!
  18. Sounds like a good game. Conner fans don't need to worry, Coach Hicks will have them ready by post-season play. He almost always does! Coach Hicks has the ability to get the most out of his players and develop game-plans to counter the teams he plays when the post-season comes around.
  19. I don't think too many people are underrating them, they are in the top 10 in the state and picked as the #1 team in the 11th. They will be a very good team this year.
  20. Last I heard was that JJ is no longer on the Campbellsville basketball team, I'm not sure if he is even in school there any longer. Maybe "Walter" can fill us in on what's going on with JJ. He is not on the roster nor the JV roster.
  21. If they are the best two teams in the state, then they should be in the finals. KHSAA should not manipulate anything. If a school builds a program then "they will come" ie. Highlands, Bolye Co., Corbin, Beechwood, Mayfield etc.
  22. I would be very very suprised if he has seen all the kids that he has ranked.
